Christmas, don't you just love it! I will admit, it's a little early to start talking about it but I just can't wait, it's only 51 days away! I love anything and everything about Christmas; the carols, the weather, the decorations and not to mention, the spirit, it's all so amazing! The thing I love most about Christmas is that everyone just can't help but be happy! It's the season for giving and everyone does, I love that even in all the hustle and bustle of Christmas everyone takes a moment to give. I love that great-grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins brothers, sisters and parents despite it all, get together and have a memorable time! I just love the feeling it brings, the feeling of togetherness and peace surrounds the world during Christmas time and it's amazing. Christmas IS the best holiday ever not just because of what you receive but because of what you give.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree I love christmas aswell! Like you said everything about christmas is amazing. I like how you mentioned at the end that it is better to give than to receive because that the true spirit of christmas and what its all about.
DeleteI'm so excited for Christmas this year. I can't believe it's only 51 days away! It's my absolute favourite holiday and I think it was a great blog topic to choose. I also like the fact that you really understand and appreciate the greater meaning behind Christmas and that there's more to it than just gifts.
DeleteFor this blog I will be writing about something very close to my heart and a very easy topic, my cats. I have 5 cats: Kramer, Bo, Bean, Archie, and Grizzly. Lets start with the eldest Kramer. He is a 16 year old tabby who is scared of his own shadow. I don’t know how to put this bluntly but he is quite fat. He also seems to think that everyone is a mass murderer. Next is Bo, he has more personality than a human. He is a 4 year old tuxedo cat. He likes to make frequent visits to our public pool to drink the water and hang out with the kid also he enjoys the bar at the beaconsfield golf course. Bean is our only girls cat. She is 3 and all black we got her from the SPCA. She keeps to herself most of the time and she can be quite saucy. Archie is a 6 month old who we got back in spring, his is a polydactyl and a grey cat. He loves to play especially with the youngest cat in our family: Grizzly. Grizzly is our newest addition we got him in October and he is 12 weeks old. He is an orange tabby and such a cuddle bug, he loves anyone and everyone. Just don’t get to close to him when he’s in a playful mood. I still have the scratches on my arm to prove it.
ReplyDeleteThey all sound adorable, and I can confirm that they really are! I must say, I am not much of a cat person but I love yours!
DeleteI love cats!! it must be a lot of work to have 5 cats but it must also be very fun!!!
ReplyDeleteTravel is a wonderful opportunity to get out and see the world, gaining perspective and learning about yourself and the world you live in. While I may not have a specific plan for the future, I do know that I want to travel the world. Travel has made up a lot of my best memories and what I hope to fill my future with. One day, I hope to travel to all the continents (including Antarctica!), as well as other specific locations worldwide, including Tahiti, Alaska, Scotland, Argentina, New Zealand, Tanzania, Iceland and many other places. So far, I have set foot on two continents and 3 different countries, as well as many other cities and regions throughout North America. All my goals and plans for the future may not be set in stone, but I do have a vague idea of what I want to accomplish, and travel is definitely one of those things.
ReplyDeleteI really want to travel too! I really want to see the world and explore everything, and the cultures. I think it's really cool that you want to see a lot of different countries. I feel the same way about having a vivid idea of the future, and but I know that travel will be in my future.
DeleteI love traveling also! It is on my bucket list to travel the world one day. So far I haven't left North America but I'm working on it! I hope one day you get to travel to your dream locations too!

For this blog I really wanted to talk about art, but also about music. So I'm going to talk about both. To start, I have always loved art. Ever since I could remember I had been in art classes or doing something involved with art, like working with clay and painting, and even drawing in my free time. When i was younger i started out in pottery, and as I grew up I started drawing, and now I do both with the advantage of painting as well. Secondly, I am very passionate about music. The music these days has no passion. Choosing an artist these days is like choosing the prettiest girl or guy to be the face of a record, and then using auto-tune and putting a beat behind it. Artists theses days don't even really have to be talented. All they have to do is dance "sexy" (or look like they're drunk) wear almost nothing and say a few words in a rhythm. The older music was SOO much better. For one the artists actually know how to put on a show. Singing (on their own), and playing an instrument, and actually look like an actually person, instead of a barbie doll.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you!! Although I still like the music of these days, I think that they could come up with songs about something a little different than the usual. I also agree that all they do is auto-tune everything... They should try and leave it like they used to, and it would probably sound just as good!
DeleteI'm going to blog about Halloween because it is a holiday that I enjoy very much. I love Halloween because for one day you get to dress up and put on as much makeup as you want then go door-to-door with your friends and get free candy! Honestly how could it get any better. This Halloween I went trick-or-treating with a group of friends then we slept over at someone's house. By "sleep over" I really mean we stayed up until about 5:00 in the morning talking, watching movies and being crazy. We had a lot of fun and ate almost all our candy (that was probably the reason we could not fall asleep!!!) I love Halloween so much and especially this one because I slept over at my friends house and had so much fun with them. HALLOWEEN IS MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY!!! :)
ReplyDelete-Grace Makinson
I love Halloween too! My favorite part is dressing up differently every year and of course, the candy!
DeleteLet me tell you a little story that really blew me away. One day a student named Matthew was enjoying his day in math class, and as happy as I was that math was over, I didn’t want to go to my next class. Our math teacher gave us our homework and I complete everything in the time he gave us in class. I close my books with three minutes left of class…and low and behold Mr. Teacher comes along and says to me in a tone full of attitude “MATTHEW WHY ARE YOUR BOOKS CLOSED?” and I respond because sir I finished everything you asked me to finish. The rest of the discussion was basically him telling me how in those special three minutes I could do so much….I said sir I can’t even do one question in that time and I really wanted and had the urge to say that now he was wasting my three minutes and I could doing something, but I knew better. Long story short there was this one line that he said that left my literally staring at him with this facial expression saying umm “excuse me?” He said and I quote “If there was two minutes left I’d understand why you closed your books but three minutes!!!!??” I was like…….wow that’s special….It bothered him so much he started pacing! That day I learned my lesson to never close my books when there are three minutes left but its ok when there are only two.
ReplyDeleteI remember that day and when I was trying super hard not to laugh in the back of the class!
DeleteI remember that day and it was so hard to hold in my laughter. I remember your facial expression as if it was yesterday. I still laugh about it today.
DeleteI remember that oh my god I was trying not to laugh my head off!! Best math class ever;))
DeleteI HATE poetry. I have repeated that exact same sentence to all teachers. I understand that a lot of people love it but I for many reasons I despise poetry. Every single year, I attempt to convince my teacher that it is against my religious principles to do poetry but they never believe me. The main reason why I hate poetry is because I find it stupid. If people are trying to send a message then they should make it very clear. They are constantly saying that they are sending a message to our world but nobody except themselves can read it. People would be able to understand but people do not want to waste their whole day trying to understand the opinion of life by one person. Another reason why I hate it is because it takes forever to write. I am never going to use it in my future so why do I have to make poems every single year. I really do hope that teachers will read this (AHEM Mr. Katz) and they are going to stop making us do so much of it. And even if the government forces you to do it then you should only spend one class on it. Not waste the half of the year trying to make us understand someone writing random words on a paper. And then trying to make us do the exact same thing. In my opinion poetry is 100% useless and it is extremely stupid. I hope nobody gets offended by this.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing I hate most about school is the uselessness of the things we do. Especially in math class. I am honestly not going to do anything in my life that involves having to do algebraic expressions with exponents and binomials and polynomials. I barely understand what they are now. I am going to completely forget what how to do all of it when I'm finished college. Another useless class in my opinion is science. When am I ever going to have to know about cells and stuff unless I'm going to be a doctor, which I'm not. The worst is the dumb history vocab tests. Every learns all about fifteen words then as soon as the test is over the words just disappear out of our minds like we never knew what they meant in the first place. In my opinion those are the least important classes of high school.
ReplyDeleteI am truly mad about the fact that St. Thomas picked a bantam basketball team (sec 1 only) over a midget basketball team (Sec 2 and 3). So many people wanted to play and some teacher decided to go with the little sec ones who are bad (don’t get me wrong, the midget team is also horrible) instead of the older kids. One teacher... (we will call him Superman) tried to fight for us and make sure that the team was for the older kids but another teacher ( her name is That Teacher Over There) decided to go for sec 1's just because a couple of them were in her class. This was annoying and I hate her for it.
ReplyDeleteHistory is no doubt my least favorite subject. History is history! There is absolutely no reason why we should be learning a subject that most people find boring. Nobody cares about what happened in the past, it's over with and done now. Yes I’m glad that Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone, but I don't think that it is necessary to go into detail of how he invented and most importantly the date. Another thing I do not like about history is the fact that we have to learn so many dates. They're so hard to remember. 1534-Jaques Cartier etc. When will history ever help us in the future? If we go for a job interview, do you really think they're going to ask us when, how, and why the French revolution started? In my opinion history is a useless and a boring class. A waste of everyone’s time because we will not need to know all that information. We're heading to the future, moving further and further away from the past.
ReplyDeleteWake up, eat, catch my bus, go to school, come back, do homework, eat, go to my sports, shower, then finally sleep, and repeat. That's the process I go through every day Monday to Friday. I'm always tired because I never get enough sleep and my days are always exhausting because when I actually have free time I always get told to clean the floors, or windows, or walls, or etc... This is why I believe that school has to be shorter and start at a later time. So that I can actually sleep at home instead of Math and History class. Yes I know that people also go to bed at like 1 or 2 am at their own free will but at least it'll help the people who go to bed at that time, and not by free will.

The best time of the year is the time from Thanksgiving to New Years. To me this is the best time because it includes getting all cozy with hoodies, scarfs, blankets hot chocolate and much more! It is also the time of the year where you are more likely to eat comfort foods, such as shepherds pie, lasagna and soup. Also Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas are at this time of the year which makes it 100 time better! This is my favorite time of the year because I love wearing cozy clothes and going home and getting all warmed up with blankets and warm drinks. Plus, the colors of the leaves in the trees are so pretty at this time of year, and the very first sprinkle of snow comes too! Those are just a few reasons why I love Autumn.
ReplyDeleteOHMYGOD I also love Autumn and I totally agree with everything you said!
DeleteSomething that is really important in my life is a little girl named Lea Fhima. We've only been friends for like a year but we have so many memories together! Not going to lie, I don't even know how we actually became friends. I used to hate her because I just found her little Mrs. Perfect and she played on the DDO soccer team which is one of the teams that Lakeshore hates so I would just avoid her. But then, when we went on the Boston trip, I became friends with the people who she always hangs out with and once all of us got together and we kind of just clicked. I was so shocked when I realized how much we have in common. Since then, we became so close and have way too many inside jokes to name, we are amazing dancers, especially Lea and we always got each others back when it comes to creepers! Ever since then, we would always have fun together and we hang out a lot! But really, we annoy each other 24/7 (mainly I annoy her) and punch each other whenever someone flinches, we still kind of love each other but not really. It's more a love hate relationship we've got going on.
ReplyDeleteReally Madi? I expected more from you.
DeleteSo since this blog is a free choice, I decided to talk about something that annoys me the most, music that is overplayed on the radio. There are a lot of great songs played on the radio, but when they're played every half an hour, they get really old and irratating. This is why i never like to put the music that plays on the radio on my phone except for the ones i really like. I know that in a few weeks after they are released on the radio, they'll become annoying and why have it on my phone when i can turn on the radio every half an hour. So overall, i hope a lot of people will agree with me on this and that the radio station should have more of a variety of music except for the same songs all the time.
ReplyDeleteI find over played music also very annoying. Whenever I hear a catchy song I get it off itunes but usually it gets annoying the day after. I agree on how they should play more a variety because then people wont get as annoyed with all the songs radio stations play every 5 seconds.
DeleteChristmas time for me is more than Baby Jesus, trees inside the house and giving gifts to relatives you don’t like. To me Christmas is about getting the whole family under one roof and sharing good times with each other. I come from two completely different families so it’s fun when we do, my Mom is full Italian that means everything’s big with them and on my Dad’s side it’s a lot more relaxed, he comes from a family of 5 boys and 1 Mom so it’s fun but not as crazy as my Mom’s side. To conclude Christmas is one the best holidays because of the time I spend with my family.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a lot of fun, Christmas is also my favourite holiday.
DeleteSomething that I really enjoy doing is dancing. I have dance lessons at a studio called 8 count and go twice a week. I find it so much fun to be there because I get to learn some really cool dance moves and be able to express myself. I think it’s cool that since I have two different teachers I can see all the different styles of dance they have. Each year we have a mid year show and an end of the year show. We get to dress up in cool costumes and makeup and performance our awesome dance to friends and family. I have always really loved dancing; it is one of my hobbies. This year I’m doing with a friend, which makes it even more fun.
ReplyDeleteThis blog I am going to talk about, Christmas. Christmas is my favourite holiday in the year, most people like Christmas because they get lots of presents, but not me, my favourite part about Christmas is playing poker with my family. Every year on Christmas Eve all of my cousins and other relatives come to my house and have dinner. We also exchange gifts and the best part play poker. We each pay five dollars and the winner of the game (which usually last 3 hours or so) gets all the money, which is usually 50 dollars. Every year my 17 year old cousin wins, but hopefully this year it will be my turn to win.
ReplyDeleteFor this blog, I decided to talk about a friend I have named Madi Swailes. We only met last year but somehow we became best friends. We met at school but the first time I really met her was through soccer because we played against each other. At first, I thought she was going to be "aggressive" because that's how she was in soccer, but once I met her I realized that she is completely different in person. She is crazy and insults me all the time but I know (or hope) she is just kidding and is actually nice. We now have inside jokes, she still insults me and we always have a good laugh. I remember when she first started to sit with my group of friends at lunch and we sat at opposite ends of the table and did not talk. Eventually, we hung out and became really close. Now there is not a day that we do not talk about something, even if it is the most random thing in the world like her neighbor climbing up a tree. I'm not sure how we ended up getting along and becoming best friends because we were rivalries in soccer and sort of hated each other but however it was, I'm glad that we did.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh this is totally unexpected! THANK YOU LEA YOU'RE SO NICE
DeleteFor this blog, I am going to talk about what bothers me the most about school! I start off my day by waking up at 6 in the morning. Getting up at 6 in the morning is really hard for me, I would much rather start school at 9 because getting an extra hour of sleep would make a big difference in my life. Even though I would end school at 3:30, I feel that getting that extra hour is a better deal.
ReplyDeleteI agree but it is nice to have extra time to procastinate after school!!
DeleteSince this blog is a free choice topic i'd love to talk about music. I'll admit music is my medicine, if I'm mad: listen to music, sad: listen to music, happy: listen to music, and you get the rest. It not only lifts my mood, but it calms me down and I feel relaxed and happier in minutes. The types of music I listen to are so diverse it's impossible for me to choose a favourite type of style. I listen to rock, rap, pop , indie, indie pop, dance, trap, alternative rock , metal etc. except for classical and country because I hate those styles. but basically i have a wide variety of music to listen to , for example when I'm mad ill listen to metal, rock, alternative rock or rap. if I'm happy id listen to more up beat songs like dance, indie ,pop, rap, trap etc.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way! I listen to so many different types of music ranging from South African pop to hard core rap haha
DeleteFor this free blog, I am going to talk about how people become famous for no reason. There are so many people who are famous for no reason or stupid reasons. An obvious example would be Kim Kardashian. Im not going to lie, i enjoy watching her show but i still think she is famous for nothing. She is so extremely rich and I understand that she probably works for what she earns but i do not think she deserves to be making a lot more money than other people who are actually very talented. On etalk, their biggest story is if she really shaved her eyebrows or not and news about Alex from target, who is basically famous because he is attractive and there are hundreds of cases similar to this. There are many people who are famous that have a lot of talent but many who do not but they are many people who have just as much or even more talent as someone else but aren't famous because they don't have "connections" and an extremely large amount of money to begin with.
ReplyDeleteSince this blog is a free subject, I have decided to talk about my favorite season, summer. I absolutely love summer. Summer means no school, no waking up at 6 a.m., sun tanning, hot weather and the list goes on. Summer has and always will be my favorite season. It is the time of year I celebrate my birthday. I also love the fact that you can go to bed as late as you want and be able to wake up in the middle of the afternoon and it wouldn't matter. Contrary to winter, the sun also stays up a lot longer. In the winter, it's dark by 5 p.m. and in he summer it only gets dark at around 9 p.m. My point is summer is awesome.

ReplyDeleteI'm going to write this blog about music. Music is actually something that means a lot to me because I listen to it everyday. One of my favourite singers in NICKI MINAJ. I know a lot of people think she's crazy and weird but I have so much respect for her. She is one of my idols and I listen to her at least a billion times a day (over- exaggeration). I'm also not one of those people who listen to music because of the beat or the music type, but I actually listen to the lyrics and end up memorizing the whole song. I listen to certain music because I can connect to it easily.
I can so relate to this! I absolutely adore music i don't know what my life would be like without out. Probably sad and awful!
DeleteI decided to do this blog about fashion. Eversince i have been really little, i have absolutely adored fashion. I remember being 4 or 5, and i was already dressing myself for pre-school. I have always liked neutral clothes, and hated glitter, sparkles and rhinestones. I remember how hard it used to be to find children's clothes that didn't have those things. I also have always loved clothes from the 90's. I used to always wear chockers and hair ties, two really big trends in the 90's. Now when i dress for school, my parents often tell me i belong in the 90's, which is such a big compliment for me. I also really love fall fashion. Some trends i liked this fall include fur coats, oversized denim jackets, jeans that are ripped at the knees, all things velvet and baggy jeans. I've noticed lately that a lit of people are starting to wear workout clothes as everyday clothes. For example adidas shirts are a really big trend right now, but they are originally made to workout in. I find it so interesting to see fashion trends come and go and that is why i try to stay away from some trends since they will most likely pass in a couple weeks. My fashion obsession has gotten so out of hand that my parents are pushing me to get a job so that i could start buying my own clothes and opefully by this summer, i will have found one.
ReplyDeleteOn this free blog I decided I wanted to talk about our generation's slang. Why the heck did our generation decide that we would use weird words to talk to people and hope they understand? Most of the slang we use is just abbreviations or acronyms because we're "too lazy" to say all the words. For example 'bae' actually means 'before anyone else'. Which I think is kinda drastic for our age. And a lot of slang these days are also just words that we gave a different meaning. Like when you're a "dry", it just means you don't show much emotion when you text but you could actually in a pool and be soaking wet. O.o Or you know we just make up brand new words like selfie....
ReplyDeleteSo I am writing to tell you all about my Halloween! So this halloween was very fun yet sad as well! We went trick or treating for what is probably the last time until we have kids of our own that we will have to go trick or treating with! This was a very sad moment that we thought would never come. This year I tried to not only appreciate the candy but the people you meet at every door. The time and the money they spend to keep a tradition alive and how amazing it is to live in such a fun country that takes part in this holiday. My cousin grew up in Canada but married an English man. She is now raising her to jids with her husband on a farm in England. In England they don't celebrate Halloween but my cousin wanted her children to experience Halloween. So every Halloween my cousin gets all the kids in the neighbourhood to dress up and she goes to people's houses to give them candy to give to the kids when they come on Halloween! I think it is so amazing that she is expanding this tradition and giving other kids form around the world the opportunity places to experience our wonderful tradition!
ReplyDeleteIm going to blog about gym class. Gym is by far my favourite class because lets face it, you dont do anything challenging. Its basically a free period where you get to do sports. Personally I think tha we should have gym 3 or 4 ties out of 6 days because its alot of fun. ym is great when youve been having lots of boring/crappy classes and your next period is gym because it revives you and lets you feel energetic.
ReplyDeleteFor this free blog im going to write about what I do for new years. So first off I celebrate Christmas twice every year because since my parents are divorced the family on my dad's side decided that they should celebrate Christmas on new years so I could be with my mother on Christmas. The cool things that we do on New Years is as soon as the clock hits zero my grandma throws money into the croud and everyone tries to get some and basically the person with the most wins a prize and is suppose to be very lucky for the rest of that year. We also do many games and activities and give out lots of prizes. - Dennis Mayuga
ReplyDeleteI would like to blog about Christmas!!! Just because, it is coming up soon, I have been dying to take out my new winter coat next week, and because I keep on dropping early hints about what I want for Christmas to my parents! Christmas is absolutely my favorite holiday because of the pretty white snow everywhere, Hockey is the number one priority for everyone, all the food smells amazing, and everyone just seems to be in a better mood! I am planning this years Christmas to be amazing. Unfortunately last year, I had a concussion and was unable to ever go out of the house to buy any of my family members gifts, which made me feel awful! Also, I ended up getting an Iphone, which i wasn't even allowed to use for another month! I can't wait for this year, because I know it's going to be extra special! I'm all ready preparing everyone in my family too! Its the first week of November and I've already sent out 5 emails on hints of good things to buy me ;) I sent my dad a link to a site selling Taylor Swift concert tickets, and forwarded some emails of sales at my favorite stores. Now that i have proven my point on how spoiled I am, I would just like to wish everyone a merry Christmas ahead of time!!
