Recently I stayed home alone while my mom went to pick up my brother from a birthday party. She put the alarm. After she left, I went to my room. About 10 minutes later, the alarm went off and I started to panic thinking of the worst. As I stepped outside, I remembered my dog. My quick decision made me go back into the house to grab him. I took off running to my neighbours house. It ended up being a false alarm because my mom didn’t set the alarm up right.
The most recent bad decision I made was when I was mountain biking and I saw this massive jump made of gravel and sand and of course being Matthew I pedal as fast as I could and yea… didn’t end to well. I swear I went a good 8 to 10 feet off the ground! I was so full of adrenaline and I was living so much in the moment that I forgot about the most important part… The landing. Good thing my mountain bike was fitted with air suspension because if it wasn't I would have died. The landing was so hard that the tires even flexed as much as they could and I slammed back onto the bike so hard I actually cracked my neck and pulled a ligament. I was in pain for another couple of months after that.
One bad decision on my part was buying a long board. When I was younger, I saved up and bought one then I realized that it was a big waste of money because I never used it because I would ride my bike instead as a bike is a lot faster and more practical and safer (there are no brakes on a long board).
One time I made a quick decision that turned out really badly and I ended up breaking my Beats headphones. I regret it so much now and I wish I could go back and make more precautious and better decision. Anyway, so back in October my sister and I were in the car for an hour-long drive, back to Montreal. She had forgotten her headphones so she asked to borrow mine. Just as we where about to leave I told her to take them from my lap. Worst. Move. Ever. I did not realize that I was sitting on the cord so when she took them, she pulled too hard and they snapped in half. Looking back I really wish I had decided to just give her the headphones myself or not even let her use them at all. That way this whole situation could have been avoided and I could have saved $40.
One bad and quick decisions that I made when I was younger was when I went to an ice cream store. There was this place near my house that had 200 something flavours and my friend and I decided to go because it was the last day of school. I remember wanting so many of the flavours because there were so many to choose from, and I couldn’t pick just one! So I decided to get a big bowl with like 10 scoops all for myself!! (bad choice...) I spent the whole afternoon throwing up, and I had a huge stomach ache... So now whenever I go to get ice cream I never get more then 2 or 3 scoops. (except for the “special” occasion every now and then).
I once tried doing the exact same thing with my friends one summer, and believe me, it did not end well! It was just so tempting looking at all those flavours and wanting to try them all, but I guess in this case it would be wiser to just get a couple of scoops and go back for more another time.
I once made a really bad decision when I was about 5 or 6 years old. I was on a plane coming back from Disney World in Florida and I had fallen asleep with my dad sitting next to me. I had just bought a Bambi purse from the Disney store with the money my grandparents gave me. I had my purse in my hands then I decided to take a little nap because it was a long plane ride back. WORST DECISION EVER!!!! I remember my dad waking me up and telling me the plane had landed and we were getting off. He had said to hurry so we could catch our next flight home. I was still half asleep and had totally forgotten my Bambi purse because it must have fallen out of my hand and under the seat while I was asleep. I remember waking up the next day exhausted because we had gotten home around 3:00am and I asked where my Bambi purse was. My mom looked at my dad and he suddenly remembered that I must have left it on the plane!!! I looked everywhere for that thing until I knew it was on a plane somewhere. Luckily, I have an extraordinary dad and he went online contacted some people who told us the horrible news that my Bambi purse was not on the plane. My dad did not stop there though, he went on the Disney store online and bought me a new Bambi purse. When it came in the mail I was so surprised and happy!!! I never knew falling asleep on a plane could be so tragic!!!!
I hate it when I lose something very important to me so I know exactly how you felt. It's great how much your dad cares about you and bought you a new purse.
When I was around 5 years old my cousin and I made a bad decision that we would never live down. It was an average day at my cottage, everyone was having fun and enjoying the sun. The adults went inside to have dinner and my cousin and I stayed outside to play, lets just say that I am NEVER going to do that again! All of then sudden, as we were playing outside minding our own business when we heard a gun shot, then another and another. Being the young and foolish children we were we rushed inside, grabbed the phone, hid and dialled 9-1-1. As soon as we got the operator my cousin panicked and handed the phone to me I could only manage a few words before freaking out and hanging up. The police showed up at the door not to long after and thankfully understood what happen and explained to us that it was just hunting season that's why we heard shots. Now every time the doorbell rings my cousin and I are always the center the joke of why we called the police this time. I hope that my rash decision will stop haunting me!
One really bad decision I've made was at the theme park "LaRonde". I'm the kind of person who really likes rides. There is not one ride I wouldn't go on, because they're amazing and thrilling. So me and my friend decided one day this summer, that we were going to go to LaRonde. We both really like roller coasters so we thought it would be fun. I just get headaches really easily, and when I go on too many rides a get dizzy and get headaches. After so many rides, doing some of them over again, I started to get a headache. I thought that maybe if i go get something to eat, I'll be fine. I still wasn't after the meal, and my friends still wanted to go on another ride. Because I'm such a weird person, I agreed and went on another ride. Just. After. Eating. This was not a good idea. My friend picked a ride called "The Vampire", of course, that one is my favorite, but there are A LOT of loops. After getting off I had to run to the bathroom, and I think we know what happened... Anyways by the time I got home I felt horrible, and went straight to bed.
The last quick decision I made almost got me killed, I was at a red-light with my bike and if I didn't cross I would've been late for school. As I crossed the light it turned green and while I was biking a car flew right past me and it was probably a couple of cm's away from my back tire. Its hard to think that if I made that decision a couple seconds later my life would be completely different. - Dennis Mayuga
Netflix can either be the best thing or the worst thing out there. It’s awesome being able to watch all kinds of great shows and movies whenever and wherever you want, but at the same time, it can occasionally consume a bit too much of your life. I have experienced first hand the problems that Netflix can bring. I remember once a while ago when I had first gotten Netflix and got really into a good show. I think I probably watched more tv in those couple of days than I normally would in a month. Anyway, Netflix gives you 15 seconds at the end of each episode for you to decide whether you want to watch another one or stop, and believe it or not, this quick decision can actually have an impact on your life. I still had homework left to do, but completely disregarded it and kept watching Netflix instead. The next day, I learned that this homework actually counted for marks, and I didn’t exactly have a solid excuse as to why I didn’t do it. In the end, I regretted making that stupid decision within those 15 seconds and while it didn’t matter in the long run, it wasn’t exactly my brightest moment. For this reason, ever since, I always try to finish my homework before I start watching Netflix.
When I was younger one decision that I made and regretted was buying the jumbo pack of fuzzy peaches at the movie theater. My grandma was the only adult there with me. I was young enough that I didn’t realize that I would get sick at the time but also old enough to know that since I was with my grandma, I could literally get away with anything. So I stuffed myself full of fuzzy peaches and threw up. My grandma of course said her usual "don’t get yourself sick" and of course I didn’t listen. I regretted that, and I can now never look at fuzzy peaches without feeling slightly sick.
I remember the time I made the worst quick decision of my life. My family and I went to a mexican restaurant one night and I ordered two hard-shell tacos. So I ate them. I was almost full and there were two tacos left and no one was going to eat them. My dad asked me if I wanted them and without really thinking it through I just said yes and I ate them. That was the worst decision I have ever made. I was up till 4 o'clock in the morning throwing up the four tacos I ate. I couldn't even get up so I slept in a mother's bathroom...So the two things that I learned about myself is that I eat with my eyes and I have a weak stomach. Till now, I'm not able to look at taco the same way..
In grade five I had my birthday at Laronde. My friends and I were having a lot of fun and decided to try one of the water rides. Which was already a bad idea because it was when it first opened in spring so it wasn’t even that warm yet. We decided to go on the splash… oh no. We sat on the ride and it went on the big drop and SPLASH! But we weren’t that wet because we were sitting in a bad place. So, we decided to go on it again… Once again oh no. We sat down in a different spot this time and as we went down the drop the water went SPLASH! But this time we got socking wet. Our shoes were wet, our hair, all our clothes and it felt terrible. Since it was late in the afternoon we were all freezing cold and socking wet for the rest of the day. We were all miserable. That was a really bad decision.
A decision that I made that was bad was when I had yogurt before I knew I was lactose and tolerant. It was in elementary school, either grade 4 or 5 and I had eaten some yogurt at recess time. During class I started getting these horrible pains in my stomach and I started to cry. My teacher wouldn't let me go call home. When I got home I told my mom what happened and she booked me a test to see what I had a reaction too. My reaction ended up being that I am lactose intolerant. It really sucks but I can take pills to eat certain foods.
One good decision that I made before thinking about was creating a YouTube channel. I created a channel called Pete West on YouTube at the end of last year to just upload random videos on and it has grown to more then that. My channel is me everything the channel is is me and my channel, makes me feel good when I look at it and know that I created it by myself. People bug me about sometimes but it doesn’t get to me because I have never been more proud of something that I made in my life.
One quick decision that I took is when one morning my dad woke me up at 6:00 in the morning. He asked me if I wanted to go up north near our cottage because we have a Christmas party for everyone who has a cottage on the lake. He mentioned food so obviously I decided to go. In the car, he explained to me that the party is two hours away. I was not too annoyed just yet but I was not expecting a two hour wait in the car. When we are almost there, my dad tells me that, the party is not really a party. Its actually a meeting. That is when I got mad. When I asked him if there was going to be food he said yes because only the counselors ( him) would be getting Tim Horton's donuts. I get there and there are no chairs. I had to wait in a small crowded room standing up for 4 hours. I only got home at 3:00 and I even had to miss karate which was at 2:00
One quick decision that I took was in the summer. I went to LaRonde for a surprise party with a bunch of friends because one of them was moving away to Alberta. So, we took a lunch break because we were all starving. My 2 friends and I left the huge group we were with to get lemonade. Once we got it, we went back to the group and they finished eating their fries or poutine. Since I only got a drink, I decided to get a poutine and I ate the whole thing and it was pretty big. I barely digested my food when all my other friends wanted to go onto the Monster which is a rollercoaster. To be fair, it wasn’t the worst one to go onto right after eating but it was pretty bad. So I had to make a decision to either go on it or wait alone while they go on it. I decided to suck it up and go on it. That was probably the worst decision of life. I felt so sick after the ride. I had to sit down after the ride to calm my body down. But that was my fault for not thinking it through.
The same situation happened to me when I went to a theme park. My cousin and I each had a big sandwich right before going on a ride and didn't feel well the whole time.
A quick decision I recently made was on my last trip to Toronto. I went with my mom, my aunt, my uncle and my 2 cousins (who are about 20 years old). It was my cousins first time going to Toronto so we decided to take a trip downtown to show her around the city. My mom and my aunt both stayed back to prepare dinner. My uncle drove us downtown and we had set that we were going to take the subway back home. We enjoyed the visit downtown but we were getting a little bit cold so we headed to the subway station. Once we got there, it was very hectic because that night the Toronto Maple Leafs were playing a game so many people were in the streets and at the station. With all of the commotion around us, it was very hard to tell which subway was going where. Two subways were arriving at the same time, going in opposite direction, and we had to make a very quick decision regarding which subway to take. Turns out we took the subway heading in the wrong direction. We had to get off at the next stop and wait for the subway going in the right direction. In the end we got home safe but did get home much later than expected. -Elisabeth Laflamme
A rash decision that I made was when I went to my friends house for a party and we were playing games and stuff, then one of the people there said that we should go out to the park near the house. Everyone said yes and they were waiting for my response so naturally I said yes too. The thing is we did not bring any flash lights and I had never been in that forest. So we decide to play hide and seek? I try and stay with some of the people but I get lost on the way. For a good 15 minutes I thought I was lost and was just going to die out there alone. Then the person who was it found me and was like ha now you're it too. That day I learned I have no sense of direction at all and terrible luck.
A time that I made a quick decision without thinking was about four years ago. I was in Florida with my family and the condo was on the first floor. I was in the kitchen and I saw my mom outside walking. Without thinking, I decided to run as fast as I can to go say “hi” to her. Without thinking that the glass door that leaded to the back porch was closed, I ran right into it. My brothers and dad heard me hit the door and ran into the room. They called the ambulance and before I knew it, there were about eight firemen and doctors surrounding me. We went to two hospitals and waited four hours just to find out that my nose was broken. Since then, every time this story is brought up I start laughing because it was such a quick decision that leaded into a disaster.
One quick decision that I made was quite reckless. My brother and I were biking to Metro to get some cookies. When we got to the intersection, I noticed that the crossing light was broken. I looked at the vehicles that had just come off the highway. Their light was red and I decided to cross. I told my brother to follow me. He hesitated, then crossed. He was only half of the way when the light changed. Some cars honked and one sped off a few feet from his front tire. For the rest of the day, he would not talk to me!
I have only made a few rash decisions in my life because I usually think things through before I do anything. Especially if it is important. One somewhat reckless decision I made was deciding to go to Fairview after school with my best friend without actually talking to my mom first. When she found out from my sister where I was she was really mad. She came and picked me up right away. I felt really bad for my friend because the car ride must have been awkward for her. In the end my mom just took away my cell phone for the rest of the day and I got it back the next day anyways so it wasn't that bad.
When i was just a kid I wasn't very reasonable or very smart either. It snowed a lot one day and me and my sister thought it was perfect snow ball fight weather. we decided to throw the snowballs at a different direction... and tried hitting every car that passed by. wasn't a smart idea but like i said i was very young. we missed every car but one. we hit the windshield , wasn't anything drastic but still, the owner of the car decided to stop and reverse into my driveway. Me and my sister immediately ran to the back yard and hide from them. They told my mom and then we had to apologize. but i made the decision to throw the snowballs knowing there was always a possibility of hitting the car. Never hit a snowball at a car again.
I make decisions without thinking a lot and there usually not the best ones! Whether I don't think before I say something or I simply do something stupid I do it a lot! The latest dumb choice I made was last Friday! I was walking with my cousin and our friend an we were at an intersection. The light was taking forever and we were freezing so we decided to cross half way across the street! We got to the half way point and I realized that there was nothing to stand on in the middle of the two streets! It was just snow so we were going to get hit if we didn't cross the full street so I made the dumb choice to run all the way! Right as we started running the light turned green. The first cars saw us and didn't go but there was a truck in the way so the car beside the truck could not see us! So the car started to drive and it slammed on the breaks right in front of us! It was really scaring and very stupid on our parts! So from now on I will wait for the little green man to show up on the walk signal no matter how cold I am!! By: Meghan McCarthy

ReplyDeleteThe same situation happened to me when I went to a theme park. My cousin and I each had a big sandwich right before going on a ride and didn't feel well the whole time.
DeleteThe same thing happened to my sister when we had gone to Laronde together a few years ago. I hope you still had a good day overall.
DeleteA quick decision I recently made was on my last trip to Toronto.

ReplyDeleteA time that I made a quick decision without thinking was about four years ago.
ReplyDeleteOne quick decision that I made was quite reckless.
ReplyDeleteI have only made a few rash decisions in my life because I usually think things through before I do anything.
ReplyDeleteI do that a lot! I always forget to tell my parents where I am going because I get caught up in the moment!!
DeleteWhen i was just a kid I wasn't very reasonable or very smart either.
ReplyDeleteI make decisions without thinking a lot and there usually not the best ones!
