Your ONE BLOG topic this week is FREE CHOICE! You could blog about whatever it is you want, except what you've already blogged about! You could go on a rant or you could simply blog about something important to you. Please do not blog about blogs!
I highly recommend that you go OUTSIDE the BOX! Be creative and write about something you feel important or something you would like to tell your audience.
You must remember your audience. It is not simply me (Mr. Katz) reading this blog!
If you will be ranting about a certain individual, you need to leave their name out of this. You could give them a pseudonym or simply leave their name as anonymous.
Make sure your language is appropriate. Do not go on swearing tangents.
For my free choice blog I have decided to write about my favorite restaurants from fast food to fancy. Because, well I love food as do may others, I’m sure. So lets start from the bottom, the lowest of the low… Harvey’s or A and W would have to be my favorite fast food places for a few reasons. The both have decent and relatively cheep burgers, good atmospheres and lets not forget about the root beer. A little bit higher in my mind is Thai express dam… They have good food! Now if I’m looking to order out I probably go to get Chinese at Mr. spicy or pizza at Sanleone. Next for something a little more refined I love going to the sushi shop. Sushi is definitely my favorite food so it’s kind of a no brainer. Now the best sit down place according to me is either Cosmopolitans or Steak frit, Yummy! Now that I’m reading this list I feel like I am really lucky to have so many great places to get food and if you couldn’t guess by now I was really hungry when I wrote this.
ReplyDeleteThat's really cool I like A&W too!!!!
Deletegrace
Thai express has the best food!! I totally agree!
DeleteMmmm, some Thai Express would be good right now:)!
DeleteSince this weeks blog is free choice, I decided to obviously rant about something. This time, im going to rant about something that bothers me so much and that is slow walkers. I honestly don't know what is going through their minds when they're going zero miles but eventually someone is going to run them over. We have five minutes to get to class not three hours. The worst part is when the halls are narrow and you're in front of someone who walks like a turtle and you can't even get around them. So overall, people in school shouldn't walk like zombies and cause traffic in the halls.
ReplyDeleteI totally get what you mean! Slow walkers drive me crazy!
DeleteI hate when people walk really slowly! Especially when I'm in a rush!
Delete-Elisabeth Laflamme
I am a slow walker... I know it. But sometimes people get so mad at me and if you really were in a rush, that means the bell is about to ring . Therefore you can easily go around me since when there is 30-20 seconds left barely anybody is in the halls. And if you're not in a big rush, then what's the point?
DeleteI agree with you 100%. Those people drive me crazy!
DeleteRecently, there has been a lot of excitement surrounding football, particularly the Super bowl, which is coming up in a couple of weeks. Now, in general, I enjoy sitting down and watching the hockey/soccer/baseball/basketball game that my brother is watching, but I just can’t stand football. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure it takes a lot of physical and mental ability and I have a lot of respect for any athlete, but in a sport that stops practically every 5 seconds for a time out, commercial or some other ridiculous reason, I just don’t get what people see in it. I can’t wrap my mind around all the hype it gets no matter how many times I try to actually sit down and watch it, and to me, it just seems like more of an event for commercialism. Again, I know, all sports have commercials and stuff, but why does it seem like there’s twice as many during a football game? And don’t get me started on the Super bowl. Every year there’s so much buzz and parties planned surrounding it, but to me, it always disappoints. Yes, there’s a half time show and that’s great, but what possesses 11.5 million people, who aren’t necessarily football fans, to gather around the tv and watch it? Personally, I think people like the idea of the Super bowl more than the actual event, which is why although I have respect for the athletic side of football, you will not catch me watching the Super bowl this year.
ReplyDeleteI never really thought of it that way, good point! To be honest I just watch it for the half time show!
DeleteI'm gonna let you all in on a secret. You may have heard of the tv show turned movie Veronica Mars but what you didn't know was that it is the greatest most life changing series ever! I'm not the kind of person to watch tv for 3 hours or anything but while watching Veronica Mars, boy did I want to! The show focuses on a teen detective who had everything a teenager girl could possibly want, clothes, a best friend, money and lots of it and a boyfriend. Sadly her fairytale life came to an end when her boyfriend dumped her out of the blue and her best friend was murdered. Her father, being the town's sheriff went after the wrong man and lost his job. The financial loss was too much for her alcoholic mother so one day without warning she left. Veronica was left as an outcast with no friends and struggling to make ends meet. What she did next, well you'll have to watch to find out! I promise that the summary does not do justice to how amazing the show really is. I recommended it to one of my friends and now they all watch and love it! If you are ever on Nextflix searching for a show, watch Veronica Mars, you won't be dissapointed, I promise. The saying never a dull momment could not be more true with Veronica Mars! To sign off I will leave you with the words of Veronica's great and good friend Wallace "well you know what they say, Veronica, she's a marshmallow".
ReplyDeleteI've never seen that show before! But it seems really good and I can tell you are really in to it. I love it when a show is so good that I end up watching 10 episodes in a row.
DeleteSo for my free choice blog I decided to write about my heroic snowboarding accident. My family and I went up north this weekend to Mont. Avila. The story starts off with me just getting off the ski lift and I see this little three year old boy walking across the double black diamond run which is the most advanced one there is, just to get to the smaller run. The path way to walk is very narrow and especially him having skis on it would be really hard to walk there. I see the little dude start sliding and start going down the double black and at that moment I thought ok he could be really advanced, but no he literally fell down the most dangerous run there is. Me being me I strapped on my board as fast as possible and jumped down after him and the little kid was swerving onto the side with no rails, so its just a drop with tons of trees on that side. Right when he went off course into the trees I reached out and grabbed him from under his arms and picked him up and put him on the opposite side, all while I was going 65 km h on a snowboard. Then there were moguls which made both of us fall because I was going on the backwards. Long story short I was still holding the little kid when we fell down the moguls so he landed on top of my chest while I was on my back and I was holding him on me the whole way down so he didn't get hurt. That little boy could have died if he went in those trees and I am able to say I saved him. My back is bruised really badly and my knees are finished but its better that than someone else maybe dying.
ReplyDeleteGood job man.
DeleteI will be ranting about ads. Ads.. probably the most annoying things in the entire universe. I hate them. Whenever I'm on my phone I always click on ads by mistake and they bring me to the app store or their website and I'm just their like "I DON'T WANT YOUR DUMB GAME!!!" Also on my computer. On every site there are ads. Everywhere. When I go on youtube I search up something and then I click on the video and at the exact same time an ad pops up and I click on that instead of the actual video. And on tv it says "this episode is a 2 hour premiere" NOPE! More like 30 minute episode and 1 hour and a half of commercial ads. As you can see my struggle with these dumb ads, they get on my nerves all the time. When will people understand that WE JUST DON'T CARE!! honestly..
ReplyDeleteI completely understand, whenever I am on my iPod I always accidentally click on the add when I think I’m clicking on something else. It is so annoying!
DeleteFor my free blog this week, I decided to write about something I love to do in the winter,..play hockey. I do not play hockey for a team but every winter I go to the outdoor rink. Ever since I was young, I have always lived right beside a hockey rink. Every day that I can go to the rink, I do! Every weekend I go to the rink for at least 5 hours, I usually go with my friends but mostly with my brother. My favourite part about going to the hockey rink is starting games with all the people there. It is so much fun because the skill level of everyone is different. Some people are really bad and some are really good.
ReplyDeleteFor this free topic blog I have decided to talk about my trip to Italy this summer! In July, I will be going to Tuscany, Italy for 16 days! I will be going with my mom, my sister, my aunt, my uncle and my cousin! I am so excited because I have never been outside of North America! I can't wait to try Italian food, expirience the Italian culture and meet new people while I'm there. I have already started a countdown! I leave in exactly 170 days! I can't wait!
ReplyDelete-Elisabeth Laflamme
You're so lucky! I went to Italy last summer and it was absolutely amazing. You'll love it. I can't wait to go back for tgr Euro trip 2016!
DeleteFor this free blog I'm going to blog about my friends. They are so nice to me all the time and they always support me in every decision. I love them so much because they honestly make my day everyday. They make me laugh so much because they just make everything a joke which is hilarious. It is so fun to have friends who don't take things seriously because them you can always have a good time laughing about anything. My friends are also always there for me if I'm feeling bad or having a bad day they always make it better. My friends are the best in the world and I am so lucky and thankful to have making me laugh everyday!!!!! <3

Having friends you can rely on is a great thing! I love my friends too :)
DeleteFor this week's blog I'm going to talk about the struggles of Netflix. This past weekend I had been very bored one day, and was too lazy to get out of bed. Deciding wether or not I should get up, I thought to myself,"I can stay in bed this morning, I'll get up later." Of course that was a horrible idea, because me staying in bed consists of Netflix. Netflix is a very dangerous place to visit. There are so many options, and not enough time in the world to watch everything. I had to make the biggest decision that morning; should I watch a movie or a tv show? Watching a tv show is a big commitment. You have to dedicate your time to watching every single episode of one series. You see, movies are okay, about 2 hours of a 24 hour day is not too bad, Not a big commitment, I just won't do my hair that morning, but tv shows are like marriage. You have to commit a lot of time to finish that show, and even if you don't love the show, I personally cannot just drop it. I struggle with this decision all the time, I just recently started a tv show... with 10 seasons. It will take up my weekends, and the occasional (probably more than occasional) after school.
ReplyDeleteFor today’s free choice blog, I will write about annoying people blasting music on the city bus. Most people put earphones on and sit quietly. The others go and put on really loud music and pretend they’re the only ones that hear it. If they played good music it would be a little obnoxious but I wouldn't mind as much. They play the crappiest music ever and I don't understand why. Buy earphones, don't play music, OR AT LEAST play better music.
ReplyDeleteFor this free blog I am going to blog about skiing! Skiing is my favorite sport in the winter. I joined a ski school with my best friend Ericka. The school brings us to different hills every Saturday. The bus picks us up at 7:00AM, we do a 2.5 hour lesson then we ski for the rest of day. It is so much fun! I love skiing down steep hills with adrenaline running through your veins it feels great. This is something I look forward to every week. Last week we went to Owl's Head and this week we are going to Orford. From what I heard it is a pretty difficult hill so I'll have to be careful.
ReplyDeleteFor this weeks blog I had no idea what to write about at first, but while I was listening to music on my bus ride home it came to me. I’m going to talk about the rush you get when loud music is playing, then the music suddenly stops for a few seconds and everyone sings the words out loud. Personally I think that this is one of the best feelings ever. I’ve only been to one concert in my life so I couldn’t say that I’ve experienced this a whole lot, but when I do, I love it! Even at the school dances when the DJ stops playing the music and everyone sings the words, I feel so happy for some reason. I guess the feeling of everyone just having a good time, listening to good music and being with your friends is great. Music just has this way of letting you forget about everything for a while. I guess it just makes me happy to see a bunch of people at once having a great time:)
ReplyDeleteI am going to do my blog about how much I hate hockey. I know a lot of people like hockey so just to make it clear this is only my opinion. The first thing I don't enjoy about hockey, is that, to me, it is the way worse version of soccer! Smaller nets, smaller field, smaller ball and on top of that, they created something so that you get less exhausted from moving around (skates). It is literally the easier and smaller version of hockey. The other thing I hate about hockey is the way that the kids who play hockey get treated. My little brother is in a double letters hockey team and if there is one thing that I am sure of, is that 75% of those kids are arrogant and spoiled little brats. Whenever I try talking to one about hockey, they always try and talk about some crazy play they did or their materialistic possessions. On top of that, after karate, I had to go watch my brother do a "dryland" workout. He called it the hardest training ever. The kids were barely doing anything. I mean since when has 20 push ups been a lot for a sports team? On top of that, the parents were all like "omg, my kid is so tired, I hope he does not get sick from the lack of water" or "this coach though..so mean". I mean come on, I never hear anybody that plays hockey ever say: I messed up. Its always, my teammates suck or the referee was totally for the other team or even I hate my coach! But then these kids grow up and come to school and think they are amazing at everything. But since they are so cocky, they think they don't need to work so they will sometimes get bad grades. Then at one point their bubble snaps and then they are the ones who have bad behaviour at school because they need to make themselves feel better. Once again, I am not talking about you ( hockey player reading this) I am talking about hockey players in general. Please do not get offended by this.
ReplyDeleteI decided to write about one of the most scariest moments of my life, for this free blog. You may think this really stupid of me, to get sacred over something small like this, but you had to actually experience that moment. It was pure hell. I was on a plane, coming back to Montreal from Florida. The plane was so small. There was space for two seats on the left and one seat on the right. This already had me terrified because I'm claustrophobic. I didn't have time to go to the bathroom at the airport so I decided to go on the plane. I walked in the bathroom, and locked the door. I did what I had to do and rushed to get out of the bathroom as fast as possible. I swear, the size of the bathroom was smaller than a stall in the bathrooms at school. My head was hitting the door, and I'm not a big person. I am claustrophobic, so I began freaking out when I wasn't able to unlock and open the door. I was trapped in the tiniest washroom you have ever seen in your life. What made it worse, was that it was so humid. I thought I was going to die. I started shaking the door violently and yelling for someone to help me. My mom managed to slide the door open and I ran out completely mortified of what happened. Next time, I'll make sure to go to the bathroom before I get on the plane.
ReplyDeleteA similar thing happened to me once when I was on a plane, the door just would not budge at first so for a minute or two I was trying to open the door till finally it opened but it scared me so much. Hope that never happens again, to either of us.
DeleteFor this week's blog, im going to blog about what I do on days off. I always plan to the day before to get up early and then have the whole day to relax around the house but then I set my alarm for 8:00 and when it goes off I sleep through it and I end up waking up at 11. At 11 I dont know what to eat, either lunch or breakfast. Usually I'll make myself some eggs or I'll heat up some pizza pockets. After eating i normally go to my basement and chill there for the rest of the day or in the winter I might go to the rink. That what I do on a day off.
ReplyDeleteFor this blog I will be talking about hanging out with your friends as something important in a friendship. Hanging out with your friends can entail many different scenarios such as going to the mall together, going to see a movie, or just hanging out at one of your houses together. I think that for a friendship to strive, said people have to have human interactions such as hanging out. That is one of the reasons I think hanging out with friends is important in a friendship.
ReplyDeleteFor this free blog i decided to talk about how much i love Netflix. not only has it taken over my life, but all my friends love it to so we watch it all the time together. i love being able to come home from a long disgusting day of school and just watch f.r.i.e.n.d.s or any other show or movie that look interesting to me. Netflix shows you all the movies that you would want to watch that have all the genres you love to watch for example : comedy, romance. They are always improving Netflix and i just love it what can i say.
ReplyDeleteI love Netflix too! It's always fun to come home from a long day and just relax and watch your favorite show.
DeleteFor this blog I will be talking about the projects I have that will take for ever for me to complete. The first project is my drama project where I have to record my voice to act as an animated character in a video that my teacher gave to us, with a script that he gave us too. My job in this project is to be one of the voice actors and edit in all 108 lines that I recorded into the film and make sure that they sync properly to the character's mouth and if not well then I have some major editing to do to speed up or slow down the voices because I'm not aloud to touch the length of the video. The second project I have is my film project, which I'm supposed to create a parody music video, then write a super descriptive journal about what you did and how you did it and what gave you that idea, etc.... My part in this project is to be the cameraman (if truly needed) and the editor of the film. now I'm fine being the editor and all it's just that it's a lot of steps, first I got to find what piece of video goes first to last, then start converting the ones that need to be in slow motion or fast motion, next start cutting up some pieces of video to make all the parts that we filmed fit in the song, then start color filtering all of the film, after I start to pick what kind of cut I should have from going to one scene to the next as if I should fade one to black or white or dissolve one etc... next I have to start rendering which takes for ever, and lastly I have to upload it which will also take about an other 3 to 4 maybe even 6 hours. Those are just two projects that I have to finish before the end of term.
ReplyDeleteFor this blog I'm going to write about one of my favourite television shows Once Upon a Time. The show can be super confusing but I'll try to explain it. So the main character, Emma, gets a knock on her door one night. She opens the door to a young boy who claims to be her son. He also tells her things like how her parents are Snow White and Prince Charming and his step mother is the Evil Queen. She thinks he is crazy so she drives him back to his house. She ends up staying and finding out that he wasn't actually crazy. This show is really good because they can always put a modern spin on classic fairy tales.
ReplyDeleteFor today's blog, since it was a free blog I decided to write about a movie I saw last night, Taken 3. I was introduced to the movie Taken on Halloween night. My friends and I gathered at my friend's house to watch scary movies. Two of them didn't want to watch scary movies so instead we decided to watch Taken. I had no idea what the movie was or what it was about or even if I was going to like it. I ended up loving the movie and wanted to watch it again 100 times. I went home and watched Taken 2 thinking it wouldn't be great because I wondered how they can make a second movie and I loved it almost as much as the first one. When my friends and I found out Taken 3 was created and was coming to theaters, we were all ecstatic and really excited to see it together. Last night, we all went to the movie theater and saw the movie. I thought it was really good but I'd say that the first and second movie were better. Some people said they really disliked the movie but I actually really liked it.
ReplyDeleteThat was so fun! I especially loved before we saw the movie when you were dancing!
DeleteFor this free choice blog, I decided to rant about something that really annoys me. I always keep a phone case on my phone to ensure it's safety and to make sure it doesn't break. But, the first week i got it, i dropped it. Nothing major happened just a little dent on the side of the back of my phone. About 6 months later, my headphones stopped working in my phone. I suspected it was just my earphones and not my actual phone but i was sadly wrong. I tried my friend's earphones and they didn't work either. I decided to make an appointment with apple to discuss my problem but they were no help. They wouldn't activate my warranty because of the small dent near where the earphones go that occurred months before the earphone plug stopped working. This makes me so angry because they will make up any excuse to not fix your phone and get more money out of you. The apple employee said there was nothing they could do and that was it. A week later, i went back to get advice from a different employee who told me the same thing. While he was telling me that, he downloaded an app to make it easier to get apple updates and figured out a different problem with my phone that i had noticed before but never acted on it. Mt camera does not focus. Now, there are numerous problems with my phone and although i am thankful for it, I believe i deserve a new one because it is apples fault the phone is not working in the first place.
ReplyDeleteI honestly relate to this so much having gone through like 5 phones with apple. They really need to step up their game!
DeleteFor this blog, I will talking about my obsession with Marvel superhero movies. It all started on the break when The Avengers was on TV and my brother and I both watched it. And my brother is obsessed with superheroes. He knows every single movie of Marvels coming out. So, then after I watched Thor. Then one day, my brother was driving me home and asked me to give him all the superhero movies I havent seen. So in the next couple of nights, we watched every single superhero movie in order (there is a specific order on how to watch it) and I then kind of became obsessed. So in 2015, I'm so excited for The Avengers 2 to come out and Ant Man to come out.
ReplyDeleteSo today is my birthday and I'm 15 years old. At the moment I have four of my best friends in the other room in their sleeping bags talking and having fun while I'm here writing about it. So this week I'm going to write about how I much rather live in the 1960s because of school. In the 60s just like today kids were given a date when something was due but unlike today it was due during school, school should stay at school non of this due at 11:59 crap pardon my language nut there should be a gap in-between school and home.
ReplyDeleteSo for this free blog I'm going to rant about soccer tryouts. The d.d.o. intercity soccer tryouts are coming up and instead of being nervous Luke most people, I'm extremely frustrated with the head intercity staff. For some reason they decided that they wouldn't combine the A and AA tryouts for my age group so if anyone wants to try out for both teams, they'd have to go to FIVE tryouts. And in addition to that, 1 of the 3 A tryouts are in the gym which is so stupid cause obviously we don't play soccer in a gym in the real season so what's the point of having an extra tryout in a school gym!? Above all, the most irritating part, is the AA tram doesnt even have a third tryout in a school gym. If anything shouldn't the more advanced team have to have a third tryout? To me this doesn't make any sense and I was not happy at all when the schedule came out.
ReplyDeleteI decided to do my free choice blog about music. For me, music is everything. My whole entire life revolves around music. I find myself constantly listening to music; the second i wake up i turn on my phone and put on some music, then in the car i always have earphones in, at school i listen to music while doing tests and writing stories and when i come home i immediately go upstairs in my room and listen to my music on full blast. Music is so important for me. It makes me feel so many emotions, sometimes it makes me happy and other times it makes me sad but most of all music makes me incredibly nostalgic. Sometimes when i hear a song i get instantly taken back to a memory involved with that song and theres no better feeling than that. I love many kinds of music and many kinds of artists although i don't usually listen to "radio music". I also love concerts so much. I get such an incredibly rush of happiness whenever i hear live music and to me it's one of the greatest things in life. Anyways all of this is to say that im extremely passionate about music and don't know how i could ever live without it.
