The Grammy Awards are a celebration of today's most popular music.

What sort of role does music play in your life?  Is there a song/band that you are particularly attached to? Explain.

  1. Music definitely plays a large role in my life because I am constantly listening to it. I listen to music when doing homework, cleaning, in class, in the shower, with my friends and if I'm just doing nothing at home. Music makes every scene better and puts me in a better mood. I have so many favorite artists so I cannot pick one. Some of my favorite that I have loved for years are J. Cole, Drake, the weeknd and Frank Ocean. I love their music because their songs all have a lot of meaning in them. I have also found a lot of new artists in the past year that I have grown to really love. I love chance the rapper, sam smith, childish gambino and many, many others. My favorite type of music is R&B and Rap. I like these types of music because I find they offer a lot of space for meaning and usually paint a story in my mind. When I am finding new music, I usually like the ones with a cool and interesting melody and lyrics that mean something because I find those are the best songs!

  2. Music plays a huge role in my life. I'm pretty much always listening to music. If I lose my earphones I literally have a panic attack. Music has a way of calming me down or getting me excited for something. I'm especially fond of Eminem. Eminem has a song for absolutely every mood you could possibly be in. Everything from making you want to cry to being so mad and feeling that the whole world is against you. Other artists that I'm really attached to are Ed Sheeran, the band Die Antwoord and Simple plan. But there's also a few random songs that I have grown a strong interest in such as Keep Ya Head Up by Tupac. I just love the meaning behind this song and what it represents.

    1. I love Eminem!! He is such a good rapper. And I can relate when you talked about losing your earphones; I don't know what I would do without mine.

  3. Music plays a very important role in my life, music is basically something I listen to when I am very bored or when I am trying to concentrate. A song/band I am really attached to would definitely have to be IceJJFish and his hit single "On the Floor" I really enjoy his passion for singing and don't even get me started on his voice he is one of the best if not the best solo artist out there right now. His vocals will give you shivers while his lyrics will make you feel things you have never felt before. Overall music is a great thing to me and I am sure everyone else in the world, it brings people together and it can turn sad or boring time to slightly amusing times. =]

  4. Music is actually a huge part in my life, and without it, I would definitely be a lot more depressed and bored with myself. This sounds a bit strange, but it's the truth. I listen to music when I am doing my homework, studying, working out, on my phone, or simply when I am bored at any time of the day. It makes me a lot more relaxed, and it allows me to feel emotions that I don't necessarily feel on a daily basis. I am the kind of person who finds the song before it gets popular, or finds old songs that are surprizingly really good. My favourite types of music are R&B, country and house. I have lots of favourite artists, but my top 6 are probably the Weeknd, Trey Songz, Jesse McCartney, J. Cole, Miley Cyrus, and Frank Ocean. I have too many favourite songs to be listed, but I do admit, when it comes to music, I am very picky.

  5. Music plays a huge role in my life. I listen to it so mucb during the day and I wouldn't be able to go one day without it. Music in general makes me happy and it calms me down when I have bad days. Music just makes everything better. My favorite types of music are R&B, rap and dance/house. But some my favorite artists are Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Avicii and Kid Ink and so many more. Their songs are so good and without music in general, our lives would be so plain.

    1. I agree that our lives would be a lot duller without music to liven them up and make us calmer and happier.
      P.S: I also love Avicii!

  6. Music has definitely played a large role in my life. When I was little I used to love to sing. I took singing lessons every week and I also began to love the piano. But as I grew older, the things that I needed to do like homework and chores grew bigger as well. I had to stop my practices. But to date one artist that I really love has to be Taylor Swift. I know it seems like such a girlie choice but as a kid I loved her country stuff and now even though she writes pop songs they are still great. This summer I am so excited to be going to her concert.

  7. Over the years I have gotten more and more attached to music. I used to listen to it on occasion (in the car or at a dance), but in these past few years music has stepped up and taken on a much more prominent role in my life. I now listen to music when I read, while I’m doing my homework and even in the shower (my parents got me a water proof speaker). It is a source of calm and relaxation as well as happiness and joy. I have found that the right song can pull me out of the dumps or can give me tons of motivation to move forwards in a particularly daunting task. As for a specific artist, I really don’t have one. I am a little bit more particular and typically I like the song more than the artist. However most of the time when I like a song I will listen to it over and very until I get bored of it and find another one.

  8. Music plays a big role in my life. I listen to all the time, when I do my homework, at school and before a hockey game. One band in particular that I like to listen to is Three Doors Down. I like Three Doors Down not because their music touches me emotionally, sends me some deep message or addresses some important issue. I like their music because it sounds great. The majority of the time, when it comes to me listening to new bands/artists, I really only pay attention to what the music sounds like, not some deep secret message buried somewhere in the lyrics of a song.

  10. Before high school, music never played an important role in my life. It wasn’t until I got my first pair of headphones that I really got attached to music. For me, it plays a huge role in my life, whether I’m doing homework, on a long car trip, reading, exercising, cooking, or so many other activities that are simply better with music. Not only do I use it as a source of entertainment, but I’ve also noticed how much my mood is influenced by music. It’s amazing how it can get you hyped up for something or relax you completely in a matter of minutes. While I enjoy a wide variety of genres of music, I particularly like alternative and classical music, as they both are very versatile and can be used for a multitude of activities. Needless to say, a large portion of my life is surrounded by music, and I hope that I never lose my love for it.

  11. Music doesn't play a super important role in my life. Don't get me wrong I'm all for it but I am not one of those people who finds the perfect song for the perfect momment. I lisent to music off and on. Sometimes, for maybe a week or so I'll lisent to music all day everyday but other times I usually don't lisent to it that often because I get too distracted. I can't read with it on, do homework with it on and I can barley keep a conversation while it's on. Although I may not be an avid music listener, whenever I do lisent to music it is either whatever is on the radio or Taylor Swift and Shania Twain. As you may already have guessed, country pop is my favorite! I don't know why but I love it with a passion, always have, always will. I hope to one day have the appreciation and need for music like some others do but as for now I'm very content with my semi-regular country pop jam sessions. ;)

  12. Music plays a huge role in my life, and I do not know what my life would be like without it. I listen to music all the time. Whatever mood I’m in, whoever I’m with, or wherever I am, I almost always have my earbuds with me. I listen to older bands quite a bit because my dad owns thousands of songs and CD’s from when he was younger. Some of my favorites would be the Beatles, Coldplay, Supertramp, The Barenaked Ladies, Shania Twain and Avril Lavigne (her old albums). I also love many singers that are more recent like Ed Sheeran and the Imagine Dragons. But to be completely honest I don’t really have a favorite type of music, or a favorite band or singer. I just listen to whatever I feel like.

  13. I can't even begin to explain how big a role music plays in my life. I have never known a time when I didn't like music. In elementary school we always put on shows and I sang in performances all the time. Music seems to always be there. You can find a song that can bring you up when your down, or one that you can relate to when you need it. Music is there for every occasion and it can impact you on so many levels. I personally like all different styles of music that range from rap, to pop, to classic, to alternative, and if you asked me to choose one, I couldn't answer you. I am attached to a lot of music because I feel like music empowers me. Some of the music I listen to at the moment are Sia, Kongos, Lifehouse Jason Mraz and Eminem. I listen to music almost all day. Usually whenever I'm trying to focus I'll have my earphones in listening to calm music, when I just sit around I'll listen to about anything, and when I work out I listen to intense music or rap.

  14. I wouldn't say music plays a huge role in my life but I love listening to music. I listen to music at home, on the bus or hanging out with friends. I find music helps me express who am I because it helps me feel like I am not the only one going through an obstacle, problem or hard time. I love when I can relate to songs because I feel really connected and that I really listen with my heart. I enjoy listening to upbeat songs like pop music because I find it makes me happy or excited. I also like some R&B or rap but it really depends what the song talks about. I find some rap songs talk about really dumb and annoying things which I really don't like. I enjoy listening to Sam Smith, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande and others. I really feel connected to them and and I love their song meanings and what they sound like.

  15. Music plays a pretty big role in my life, it can influence my mood and attitude. For example, if I am having a bad day, I'll just put on some music, which will make me feel better. Music has gotten me through a lot of hard times in my life. I love listening to music, I do it on the bus, at school, at home and mostly with friends. Some of my favorite bands and musicians wright now are, Beyoncé, PVRIS, Lana Del Rey, and others. My favorite genres of music are Pop, Hip Hop, Rap, and Alternative music.

  16. Music plays a big part of my life. I listen to music for hours everyday. Usually I just search up a song that I like on YouTube and it leads me to all of the related songs. This takes up a lot of my time. There isn't one specific song or band that I am super attached to. I like a lot of different styles and genres as well as a lot of different bands and artists. So no, I don't have a specific band that I like but music definitely has a big impact on me.

  17. Music is so important in my life because it helps me keep calm and have some fun. Honestly, music is so fun, I love going to the school dances and dancing to the amazing music. I like many different artists and many different songs. My favorite artist is Taylor Swift and I've been her fan for a very long time. Right now my favorite band is Maroon 5, they are really good singers and most of their songs are fun and very energetic. I also like a group called Us the Duo, they are a couple who sing and do their own sound effects and play different instruments. I love that group because they are very original and they actually have good voices compared to other singers. Music is extremely important to life because it helps us stress less and just be happy!

  18. Music plays a pretty incredible role in my life. I'm always listening to music, it always keeps me calm and every night I put my favorite songs on replay and put a timer and just listen until I slowly drift into a deep sleep. Without it the silence would never be filled with someones incredibly talented voice combined with the right rhythms. The words can sometimes relate to my life at that moment so much its hard to even stop listening to it. The song "I was here" by Beyonce has always got me about to cry or scream the lyrics along with her because it relates to every moment I have and has such a special meaning behind it its impossible not to love this song. every time i hear this song I get reminded of every one on the earth that needs help and that one day I want to be able to help as much as i can.

  19. Personally, I do not listen to music very often. Mainly because for some reason I get frustrated because I feel like I can not focus on my thoughts. The only times when I listen to music is when I am super depressed or sad. Although, I do love creating music because it allows me to express my feelings in a kind of indirect way. Another reason why I barely listen to music is that when I do, I do not feel alert at all. It almost creeps me out, to know be able to hear what is going on around me. I also have extremely sensitive ears which does not help with my music appreciation. I am not attached to a specific song or band. When I do listen to music, it will usually be from the radio or something.

  20. My whole entire life basically revolves around music. I find myself constantly listening to music; the second i wake up i turn on my phone and put on some music, then in the car i always have earphones in, at school i listen to music while doing tests and writing stories and when i come home i immediately go upstairs in my room and listen to my music on full blast. Music is so important for me. It makes me feel so many emotions, sometimes it makes me happy and other times it makes me sad but most of all music makes me incredibly nostalgic. Sometimes when i hear a song i get instantly taken back to a memory involved with that song and theres no better feeling than that. I love many kinds of music and many kinds of artists although i don't usually listen to radio music. i like bands like the neighbourhood, the 1975, the lumineers, phoenix, and artists like frank ocean, earl sweatshirt, the weeknd, lana del real and chance the rapper. I also love concerts so much. I get such an incredibly rush of happiness whenever i hear live music and to me it's one of the greatest things in life. Anyways all of this is to say that im extremely passionate about music and don't know how i could ever live without it.

  21. I always listen to music, I listen to such a wide variety, i think this is mostly because whenever i hear a good song on the radio i instantly download it. One of my favourite singers is Eminem. I always listen to his music right before all of my sports event. I think tha music has such a great impact in society today but most good music like most things can be hard to find.

  22. Music plays a huge role in my life, everyday after I finish my homework you will always find me listening to music. I find that it is a great way to relax and settle down after a long day at school. I have to say that i have always been attached to the classic rock and metal types of music, and my favorite bands would definitely be Guns and Roses for sure, and of course the best song in this earth, Sweet Child Of Mine. Nothing will ever beat that beautiful guitar solo.

  23. Music plays an immense role in my life, I am constantly listening to music, on the bus, at lunch, while doing homework, and on many more occasions. I find it very calming and I feel like music makes you forget what you are doing and makes everything more entertaining and fun. Also I feel like while listening to music it is much easier to get lost in books or even in your thoughts because it closes you off to the outside world. I do not have one specific song that comes to mind when someone asks me to name my favorite song because I love too many of them, the same goes with artists and bands. Although there are many bands that I like, such as Two Door Cinema Club, Arctic Monkeys and Bowling for Soup, but I could never name a favorite, they each contains great songs that I love.

  24. Music definitely has an impact on my life. I listen to it every day twice a day on the school bus. My taste in music has definitely changed over the years. My taste in music used to be influenced by my brother because I listened to what he listened to. He listened to bands such as Green Day, Simple Plan and Three Days Grace. I still remember the lyrics to every song he would play because he played them very often. One song that I remember in particular was a song called I Just Wanna Live. I absolutely loved this song for some reason. This was also the first song that I would always play the drums to. Over the years, my taste in music changed and then I started listening to Justin Bieber and One Direction. I still love all the songs we used to listen to until I was about 10 years old, and whenever they come on, I can sing all the lyrics and get a feeling a satisfaction when the lyrics just come out of my mouth without thinking.

  25. Music takes a huge part in my life. I turn to it all the time. If I'm upset, sad, happy, excited, etc. I listen to it day in and day out. It's one of the things that helps me get through the day. It makes me smile and makes me feel something that no one or nothing else can. It always puts me in a good mood and always puts a smile on my face no matter what. I listen to mostly rock/pop rock music (5 Seconds of Summer, Green Day, All Time Low, Blink-182) but I also have a soft spot for Ed Sheeran, and Sam Smith. I don't have a song in particular that I'm attached too, I have way too many to choose from. It's like asking a mother which child is her favourite. I can definitely say though, that music is like a source of energy and happiness to me. I don't know what I would do without it. It rules and rocks my world.

  26. Music plays one of the biggest roles in my entire life. Almost every second of the day, I either have my earphones plugged into my ears with music playing or I have it blasting throughout my house. The only time I don’t have it playing is if I’m talking to people, but even then sometimes I catch myself slipping. I listen to mostly the same type of music, but I’m always willing to go out of my comfort zone and listen to something new. Depending on the artist, or even the beat, music can make me feel so many emotions all at the same time. Certain songs can even bring back memories. Some people listen to music because they like that artist or they find the song has a good beat, but with me that doesn’t happen too often, because once I find a song that I like, I get attached to it and learn the meaning of it and the lyrics and that’s a huge impact on the listener.

  27. I've always adored Taylor Swift. I don't care if people have stuff against her, I've loved her since I was 11. All of her songs are really emotional and I tend to relate to a lot of them. Her songs aren't full of garbage like rap songs and modern junk, it's meaningful and tells a story. Her music has been changing but I still like it, even if the songs are more POP and upbeat, it's still her singing, so the songs still mean something to me. I've recently like Tove Lo a lot because her style of music is so different and has a lot of Bass in it which I really like. Of course there are the older bands that my parents have gotten me into since I was born, like: Fleetwood Mac (saw in concert last thursday), Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Depeche Mode, Alan Parsons Project etc. I will never stop loving those bands because the lyrics to each one of their songs are memorized! All of their songs bring back really good memories and are really meaningful to me. Especially the song "Somebody" by Depeche Mode, because it is my parents wedding song.

I used to always listen to Justin Bieber and only him and I still do, but I also listen to Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Ellie Goulding and so much more. I've also been listening to dumbstep because it pumps me up and a lot of pop music and would never listen to anything but pop. I still love pop music, but I know I listen to a lot more. Right now, I'm listening a lot of Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran and a lot of slow tempo songs. I listen to a lot of unpopular songs which I like so that radio stations don't overplay it and end up getting tired of it.

  30. Music is one of the most important things in my life. Music helps me get through tough times, sad times, happy times and times where I’m so bored staring at the ceiling seems fun. My dad has always been really into music so I grew up with the classics like B.B. King, The Who, Led Zeppelin and the Clash just to name a few. If I were to pick a song that has stuck with me I would choose Surfer Girl by the Beach Boys. This song has been in my top three since I was eight. Every time I hear the song it brings back memories of long car rides and the summer breeze.

My sister always has music playing and she is always listening to music and when she is listening to music usually the whole house is too because she plays it so loud! I find music can make me really happy but it also makes me sad. I love all kinds of music but it depends on my mood what I love best. Sometimes I love really sad songs that make me cry and think but sometimes I love to just listen to happy music! My sister usually finds really cool songs that no body has ever heard before and I will listen to those but other times I like to just listen to happy radio music! 32. Something my parents always say is it takes two to tango. They say that when me and my sister are in a fight over something like the TV. They say that because when we fight it is both of our faults not just one of ours. So, It takes both of us to resolve the problem. I think this is a good saying because it is very true in many real life situations.
