  1. One animal that I have owned that is special to me is a dog named shadow. He is a husky but he also is part coyote. He is a very special dog because he is extremely shy. I can barely even touch him. He will shake and go sit on the ground as if he was really scared. I don't think he is scared though. I think he is just socially awkward dog with humans. Another thing that makes him so special is that, he loves the outdoors. It might seem crazy but, when we take him for a walk without a leash, he will follow the whole way. But once we got home, he would realize the walk was over so he would run back into the woods. We never try and catch him because that makes things worse. It happens almost every weekend and my parents are always nervous when he is the woods but he always comes back. Usually, he will just follow other families with their dogs in the woods. Once, that families walk is over, he would find another one. Just until he was tired and he would come home. The main reason why this dog is so special to me, is that he is not a classic dog. He is different.

  2. Well one time I was on my bike on the street and I heard a noise behind me and I saw a little caramel kitten following me. I got off my bike and it ran into the bushes. I called for my mom and my brother and they came to help me. As soon as I got my hands on the kittens it was screaming in a tiny voice and scratching me. We got a bin and gave it some milk in a bowl. Then I took pictures of it to hang up around our town. When I got back My family was huddled around an old car in my neighbors yard. They had found two other kittens who had black spots under the car. It took us a few hours to finally get them out from under the car. Then we fed them because my neighbors had cat food and we played with them all day. At night we held them in our arms and they fell asleep. It was so cute!!! Sadly we had to give the cats to our neighbors because my mom is allergic to cats. That day was so fun and every day of the summer we went to visit our little kittens.

    1. That is so sweet! Your family is genuinely nice to animals and at least you can see them from time to time since they live at your neighbours.

  3. You could say that my family is a cat family. We presently have 5 cats and 3 more that have passed away. One cat that was very special to me was named Luna. She was black and white and sort of resembled a cow. She was one of the nicest and tame cats that I have ever known and has tolerated my sister and I since day one. We had her since we where born and she was never once violent or angry. Luna was very kind to anyone who wanted to pet her and she was always looking for affection. She was extremely special to me because no matter what she always loved others and she was my first ever pet.

  4. My family has never been pet people. With our travelling and my dad’s allergies, it just never seemed to work out, and I never owned an actual pet. So when a cat showed up at our back door one fall morning, I was very excited. I went against my dad’s wishes and took some of the leftover salmon from the previous night’s dinner, put in on a plate, and waited for him/her to eat it. When it did, it left, but returned the next day for more. The rest of my family didn’t really like the cat, but I loved it and named it Richard Parker, after the tiger from Life of Pi. It was the first real “pet” I owned, and everyday for the following 2 months, it would come and visit. Of course, my parents would never let me adopt it, but I still got to pet it and feed it everyday. On the first below zero day of the year, Richard Parker didn’t show up, thus marking an end to our little bond. I was really disappointed to see this routine go, but I figured the cat would be a lot happier inside his owner’s warm house. In the end, I was still thankful that I got to at least somewhat experience life with a pet, which made Richard Parker so special to me and a friend I will never forget.

    3. There used to be a cat like that in my neighborhood, she was someones cat who just randomly visited peoples houses to get food. Her name was Meow, although she stopped coming over once we got my dog.

  5. I have only really ever owned one pet, which is the current pet in my household. His name is Dexter and he is a mutt. He is most likely a mix between a black lab and some type of hound, possibly an american hound. We got him almost 2 years ago from petfinder.com which deals with dogs that have been rescued and now need homes. He was originally from a puppy mill in Kentucky but was rescued, along with 50 dogs, and brought here to Canada. He was originally very skittish and was afraid of loud noises but being in a loving household has really helped him. There is no one reason that he is special, he just is.

  6. I did have one instance where I was attacked by three wolverines with two of my good friends from grade six. The story goes that we were on our way to the grade six grade grad trip which was three days and two nights long. One night the guides told us to put on some actual clothes since we were all pretty much sleeping and told us to come outside for some night orienteering, which is basically you get a map and you have a compass and you have to find 35 checkpoints only with the map and compass throughout the dense night forest. My friends and I are walking around and trying to get across little ravines and going around the ftrs with our flashlights because it was pretty much pitch black. We were making quite a ruckus from stepping on all the dead leaves and and branches and all of a sudden we hear a sort of half growl and half hiss and see three sets of greenish eyes and at that moment we knew it was going to be a long night. The wolverines started chasing us and we ran as fast as we could but they caught up to us and were ripping and scratching at our legs! To this day I remember it crystal clearly and I even still have the jeans I was wearing which are all shredded at the bottom.

  7. I love my giant deerhound of a dog Griffin. The saying gentle giant couldn't be more true for him, he is a huge beast with the calmest nicest way about him! Griffin resembles a cat because it seems that he has 9 lives. Not too long after we got Griffin he got pneumonia. We took him to the hospital and he needed to go through some pretty serious surgeries. It was terrifying because they weren't sure if he was going to make it. Gladly Griffin pulled through, he sure is one tough cookie after that we thought that we had endured the worst with Griffin and for a while that was true. Until, he got Lyme disease that was terrible he was lethargic lost a lot of weight and almost bit the dust... again.Griffin had other plans and survived! We’re not done yet, on June 1st 2013 Griffin ate a skewer this is the closest he'd ever come to dying. We had sincerely prepared ourselves for him not to return again. Thankfully being the tough cookie that he is, he had other plans and survived! Since then we've been a lot less worried when he's gotten sick because we had gotten too familiar with the idea of him not coming home. Finally Griffin currently has kidney stone, I know what you're thinking, id that even possible for a dog to get that!? I agree, we didn’t even think it was possible but with Griffin anything seems possible. Even after all his misfortunes, he still fights to recover and that’s what love about him!

  8. I have never had a pet, but I have had some dog and cat incidents that have made me become pretty nervous around them. I have gotten better around dogs, but I’m still not a very big cat person. The dog incident happened when I was very young so I don’t remember it, but my mom told me that I freaked out! Apparently we were in the elevator going back up to our apartment, and I was standing next to my mom holding her hand. Then when the elevator stopped at a floor to pick up people there was a lady with her dog. The dogs face was literally in my face and apparently it started licking my face, and I started crying and freaking out... So since then I haven’t been the bravest person around dogs. As for cats, I just find them creepy. They stare you down with their little eyes and then meow at you for now apparent reason, and I just find it creepy.

  9. Besides my three younger brothers, I've never had a pet. Although, I've had many experiences with them. Three years, a few of my friends, my brothers and I were walking to the park and there was a small yorkie across the street. It wasn't on a leash so it started to run towards us. Since my brother was terrified of dogs he started running away from it. I, however love dogs so i was chasing after it. When when i turned around, my brother did a mile long jump across a strangers garden and landed perfectly to avoid the dog. I have never laughed so much in my entire life. The dog ended up running back to its owner and I was still on the floor laughing.

  10. I used to have a pet dog. Her name was Kenya and she was a Yellow Labrador Retriever. She was the only pet I have ever owned (unless you count fish) and therefor she was really special. I loved that she was so calm all of the time. She was such a lazy dog, you could tell by the way she walked. Anyways, she was a pretty awesome dog and one day I hope to have another, sadly my parents don’t want one right now.

  11. Over the year's my family has owned many pet's we have had cat's, dog's, fish and a bird. Currently, we have two cat's and one dog although we do take care of two stray cat's but they don't live with us. There is one pet that I will always remember. Her name was Lola and she passed away a few months ago. She was a black lab mixed with other breed's. Lola is very special to me because she has been with me for most of my life, I have watched her grow from a puppy to an adult. Lola was an energetic and loving animal, she loved to play and looking back I wish I had played with her more. I will always remember her amazing spirit and loving kisses.

  12. When I was younger, my grandmother used to look after my sister and I and sometimes she took us shopping. On one occasion we went to the pet store in fairview initially just to look at the dogs but then my sister and I found this fish that we both liked and so my grandmother bought it for us along with a tank and some fish food. My sister named it "Flipflop". When we brought it home, my parents were hesitant to let the fish in as they knew that they would be looking after it and cleaning the tank and they didn't want that. They accepted it and I soon found out that having a fish is really boring and that counting the time as it went by was more amusing than watching a fish swim around. Anyway the fish died after two months of us having it. For some reason I was upset even though I didn't really like the fish. I bought another fish a few months after that and it lasted for two weeks. I bought another fish after that hoping it would last longer but it died after two weeks of me having it and so I gave up on the whole fish thing.

  13. Other than the occasional fish or hamster, I've only really had one pet. His name is Oscar and he's a pug. If your not familiar with pugs, they never stop eating (which means they are usually very fat) they also waddle when they walk, and are great at barking at just about everything they see. The first time I saw him, I was 8 and terrified of dogs. My parents brought my sister and I to a dog breeder, and there sat Oscar with his 2 brothers and 1 sister. I remember my parents told me that we had to choose only one and I was heart broken. I wanted them all! But Oscar was the one who stood out the most. He was so excited and jumping all around, we knew he was the one we had to have. Of course since my sister is older she got to choose the name. I can honestly say I have no idea where she came up with it or why but as he's grown he seems to fit the name. He is now 7 years old, and still acts like a puppy.

  14. One of best pets I've ever had is a dog.. His name is Raoul and he is the most ugly thing I have ever seen. We got him from an animal shelter and because he was abandonned nobody knows how old he is or what type of dog he is. We brought him to the vet to figure it out and they said "anywhere between 2-7".. wow thanks that really helps. He's black with a white beard and he's some sort of tiny schnauzer mix. He barks all the time which can get annoying but he is the sweetest thing ever. He gets excited whenever he sees someone even someone he doesn't know and he's always hyper and active. Whenever I say something to him in english, he acts like he understands like if I say "where's your ball" he would go look for his ball. Also one time he god loose during a walk and I yelled "Raoul stop", he stopped in the middle of the road and turned around to come back to me. He is also really good at playing soccer and playing fetch. When you drop food on the floor even the smallest piece, you would hear him run down the stairs just to come pick it up. And for some odd reason he purrs but he's honestly the cutest thing ever. He is special to me because he has such a huge personality that I feel like he is my actual brother. I love him so much and I think he loves me too. I don't know what I would do without him..

  15. One animal that I had that was very special to me was my Golden Retriever named Captain. The reason I found him so special was not because he was super well trained or able to do astonishing things; it was because of all the memories I shared with him. The one I remember the most fondly was actually pretty surprising. When he was young, he always used to love running away. Every time we would open the front door, he would try to sneak out. One time, he ran out as I was bringing in groceries. I immediately dropped the groceries and bolted after him. It took me a while but I eventually figured out that he wanted to play. I then walked the other way and he followed me. After that, every time he ran away I knew exactly how to get him back.

  17. When I was much younger than I am now I had a dog named Butchie(mix of wolf, husky and Rottweiler . And when I say much younger I mean I was 2-3 years old. My sister was 4-5 years old at the time so she was a hassle as well. He wasn't a very old dog but was humongous either way. At that time i also had a cat named Blackie (due to his fur being completely black) they grew up together and became the best of friends. That all changed when my dad thought two kids was already a lot of work and that he doesn't have time for taking the dog out for a walk or taking care of him anymore. Butchie wasn't a huge part of my life but for some reason I have a few memories of him, one memory is of me crawling under my dog thinking he was so large for a dog. And the other memory was of when we arrived at the farm to give him away. I remember being carried in and out of the house of the farm owner and crying the whole time not ever wanting him to leave me. we kept blackie until he grew very old and reached 19 years old. he passed away and within 2 years later we saved an extremely similar cat to blackie and called him shadow, it was like he was reincarnated and we were meant to find him in a bag and bring him home.

  18. I've had a dog my entire life. What can I say, it's a mans best friend! My dad needs a dog in the house to be in a good mood, and so do I. I've loved ever single one of my dogs, but my favorite one, was Barney. We got him when I was four years old, abandonned on the hitch of a trailer with a huge bite on his cheek. He was so skinny, yet so cute and fluffy, that we just had to take him in. Soon after, he became a member of the family. I remember I used to talk to him about my problems, thinking that he would understand. I loved playing with him outside, dancing with him, and pretending that he was a horse! Now that I think about it, I don't know how Barney put up with me. But eventually, as time went on, he became a lot less playful, and didn't want to dance anymore. My dad couldn't walk him to the lake, and had to drive him there, and we could all tell her was struggling. We thought it was just old age, but it wasn't. I didnt really know what was happening, because I was so preocuppied with school, and now I regret not paying enough attention to him. I came home from school one day last year, with my mom telling me that Barney had to be put down because the doctors found a giant tumor in his stomach that had been growing for 2 months. We were all really sad that we lost a member of the family, but I will always remember him.

  19. I don't have any pets, but my neighbor has a cute little dog named "lucky" that always runs away. Since I am not used to being around dogs, and frankly a little afraid of them, I had no idea what to do when I saw her. I was walking home from my bus stop one afternoon and there was "lucky" sprinting down the street. I had to question whether or not I should chase after her. She was a really small dog so I shouldn't be afraid, but I didn't know what to do! I thought about how the kids would be petrified if anything happened to her, and so, I dropped my stuff and ran. She was sprinting across someones lawn and somehow, the adrenaline rush started and I dove to catch her. I held her in my arms, holding her tightly so she couldn't get away. My neighbors didn't get home for another hour, so I got to play with lucky outside until they got home. I realized that pets aren't too bad and that I might actually want one someday.

  20. My favorite pet i've ever had is my current dog, Kelly. I have had her for six years and hope I do for a long time. First of all, she is special because she is the cutest dog in the whole world. She is 9 pounds of Yorkie and Schnauzer mix. She is 6 but still looks and act like a little puppy. She is very loving, sweet and playful. She always follows my family around my house because she always wants to be with us. I love walking her and taking care of her because she is a pleasure to be around. She also wants to play and has never bitten anyone. She is my favorite pet i have ever had!

  21. I've had many pets over the years including fish, hamsters, guinea pigs and even a chincilla. At the moment, i have a dog named Robbie, a cat named Cinderella and a kitten named Mowgli. I do not know whether i am a cat or dog person becausse i have both and love both. I got my cat about 7 years ago. She was a gift to my older sister, but i think i am her favourite. She has grey and white fur and green eyes and i think she is the prettiest cat in the world. She often sleeps at the edge of my bed which i love. She is also very calm and cuddly. I got my dog about 5 years ago from a rescue shelter. He is a golden cocker spaniel with fluffy ears and a very short tail. He is incredibly playful, energetic and loving. He loves to go on long walks and play outdoors. He also really loves the beach but is afraid of the water. My kitten is named Mowgli and my sister brought him home this summer. Although he is very cute, i personally don't like him as much as Robbie or Cinderella because he is annoying and mean to them. I still love him though but Robbie and Cinderella are definitely my favourite pets.

  22. My most amazing and special pet, is my dog named Buddy. When we first got him, the lady told us that he was pure maltese, but when we brought him to the vet not too long after, they said he was a mix. It's ok though, it doesn't make me love him any less. He's a white, furry, small dog. I've had him since I was in grade 2. He always makes me smile and laugh. I always dress him up in my little princess dresses that I used to wear when I was younger. He's a male but I dress him up as if he was a female. He's a very smart and loyal dog. He's always tricking you when he doesn't want you to pick him up. He's always there to protect me if someone hurts me. He may be small, but he's fierce. Another reason why I love Buddy is because he absolutely hates my brother. My brother doesn't even have to touch him and my dog will growl if he's near. It's so funny. I love my dog Buddy. He always makes me happy when i'm feeling down. I don't know what I would do without him.

  23. Through out my whole entire life I've always had dogs living by my side. The longest time period I've lived without a dog was for about 2 months. Personally I love dogs more than any other animal out there. Now I live with two humungous beasts. One of my dogs is called Celika, she is a pure Great Dane and is a big cuddler and loves to play all the time, and is also 2 and a half and is about the same height as me if she would be on two legs. My other huge monster is called Clyde, he is also a pure bred but he is a Napoleon Mastiff who is the biggest suck of all time. He is always wanting to be loved when Celika is being pet, but he is also a huge slobber dog too which is the most annoying part about him. So, in the end when it comes down to these two monstrosities, they will always be loved dogs till the end of time.

  24. A special pet I own is my current dog Cocoa. She is a over weight poodle-terrier mix with cocoa coloured fur (hence her name). She is really a special part of my life because she was one of my birthday gifts. Three summers ago I babysat one of my moms friends dogs and I completely feel in love with her. Ever since we gave her back, I spent weeks looking for a dog puppy. I finally found Cocoa a puppy on the website Kijiji. So one day when I got home Cocoa was in my living room waiting for me and it was a complete surprise for me. She can be super annoying because she always barks at people through the window, but she is honestly a really smart and lovable dog and definitely a part of this family.

  25. A pet that I own that is very special to me is my dog. Her name is Molly and she is a boxer. We got her eight years ago one summer morning. My dad really wanted a dog and one day said "okay, today we're getting a dog." My brothers did not believe him but I wanted to come to see if he was telling the truth. We drove about an hour to a house that had multiple dogs because the mother dog had a lot of puppies that the owner could not take care of. My dad chose the prettiest one. I remember sitting in the back seat of the car with Molly. We stopped for lunch at an outdoor restaurant that had a big field for Molly to run around in. We brought her home and my brothers were completely surprised. Molly is so special to me because she always welcomes me when I get home from school. She also comforts me when I'm sad by licking my face and putting her paw on my hand. People think she sometimes acts like a human because of the way she sits. Molly is very playful and kind to other people. Although she is getting older, she still acts like a puppy and is always a pleasure to be around.

The pianist Brenda was talking to my parents for a long time, but I didn't mind because I was stuffing my face with Oreos. We got home and Brenda had followed us home. I was surprised to see her there and I didn't know what she was doing. Moments later my best friend from across the street came over, with her whole family I was so confused. Brenda was bringing in a box. We all gathered around her to see what was in the box. I was the first one to see! It was two kitties a boy and a girl! I was so happy. My family got to keep the boy because they are more affectionate than the female cats. I was so excited. the first day with him was the best, I remember him taking a liking to me and only me. To this day he still likes me more I think it's because I named him but I'm not sure.

  27. When my brother turned four, we had a party with my family on a nice spring day. After he had opened all his presents, he and I decided to bike around our block. After going around a couple times we saw a dog. The dog began to follow us. We biked back to our house to show my older sister. We called them outside and my sister was petting the dog as my mom tried to figure out what to do with it. My brother had to go pee so as he opened the front door the dog ran in. My mom began to freak out and yelling at people to go catch the dog because she didn't want it to make a mess. My dad caught it and brought it to the garage. He tied a rope around the dogs collar and him and my sister took the dog for a walk. When they came back they were only carrying the rope. We asked what happened and my dad told us that the dog had run away while they had been on the walk. It was the first experience I ever had with a dog that I can remember clearly.

One day I was exploring with my brother and sister and we found a beaver damn on the far side of the island. My brother didn’t want to go close to it because he thought that it wasn’t safe and my sister was afraid so ii checked it out by myself. As I got closer I saw a full grown beaver on top of the damn. It was so majestic I sat down in awe.

Right now I have my two dogs kody and Chanel who are very cute and I also love a lot! The one pet that I can call my own though was my fish Mitchell who died when I was thirteen. My dogs are all very special to me but my fish was the one thing that I could say was mine! Being the youngest of four nothing was ever really mine and I was never in charge of anything but rather everyone was in charge of me! My fish was given to me on my 11th birthday by my sisters boyfriend Mitchell! That's how my beautiful purple, pink and blue fish got it's name! I loved this fish so much and I was so proud that it was mine! I would feed it and clean it's tank and it was very special to me! When it died I swear I didn't stop crying for hours! I was really attached to that fish and I will never forget it!

Not flying was the best Bart because I'm slightly terrified of flying birds. Sadly this fabulous bird died. One morning when I was 6 I woke up and went downstairs to feed Taco. But I found him dead at the bottom of his cage. I cried under the dining room table for three days.
