Have a GREAT SPRING BREAK!
This past Sunday, the 87th annual Academy Awards were on tv. Every year, my family and I gather around the screen, excitedly anticipating the results. We even have a prediction in which we make bets for the more well-known awards, like best picture. This year however, none of us had seen any of the movies, so it was really more of a guessing game. I had a winning reputation to protect though, so I had been doing my research for the past week getting ready to win this thing, and ultimately my hard work paid off. While I didn’t get all my answers right, by 1 correct answer I pulled ahead of my dad, receiving the satisfaction of beating my “smarter” Cegep level educated brother and university professor parents for one of the few times in my life. It felt amazing to finally be the best at something in my family and it even though I wouldn’t consider myself an extremely competitive person, who doesn’t love a sweet victory? This Sunday night win both ended and started my week on a high note, which is why I’m definitely looking forward to beating my family once again in the 88th Oscars.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! And as for next year, may the odds be ever in your favor...

ReplyDeleteLast Friday I went to the cinema see the movie The D.U.F.F. It was AMAZING! I loved it. Although D.U.F.F is an acronym for Designated Ugly Fat Friend the movie actually had a great moral and ended really well! I don’t want to spoiled it for anyone so I’ll keep it short and sweet but this movie had a wonderful blend of romance and comedy, happiness and sadness and just enough craziness to make it one of my favorite movies of all time! The main character, Bianca is trying to un-DUFF herself as bad as that sounds, the movie actually has a very deep and profound message. By the end of the movie you will walk away feeling confident and happy, what more can you ask for? I would definitely recommend anyone and everyone to go see this movie, wether you know a DUFF, you have a DUFF or are a DUFF go see this movie and feel good watching it!
I'm not usually a rom-com fan, but this sounds like a movie I just may go see!
DeleteI've seen so many commercial of the trailer and it looks so now I know someone who likes it maybe I'll see it...
DeleteThanks!!!
I actually really wanted to see that movie and you just made me what to see it even more! Thanks! :)
DeleteI'm going to blog about amusement parks!!!! I love roller coasters, and water slides they are the best things in the world. I love them so much because they are purely for fun and daredevils such as myself. I love doing something just because it's risky and dangerous. Roller coaster are so much fun because they get your adrenaline pumping and you have so much fun being strapped into a huge metal cart hurtling itself at full speed on a track. I love the strange feeling in your stomach as you approach the front row of the line getting ready to ride the roller coaster. I am an adrenaline person, anything that is daring but fun I love it. It's not just roller coasters that I love but water slides too. The ones that go super high and straight down those are my favorite!!! I love the feeling of screaming so loud having the time of your life. My favorite thing of all is after a roller coaster of water slide I get the thrilling feeling of bravery and courage and so so so much fun!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think when it comes to roller coasters, it's great to be a dare devil. I also love them and especially the feeling you get in your stomach when you go down a huge drop.
DeleteFor my free choice blog I will blog about something that has been a part of me for a long time, pasta! I am italian so pasta is obviously a big deal. There are so many different types of pasta that exist like gnocchi, penne, spaghetti, rigatoni, cannelloni, manicotti, fettuccine and many more. Everytime I visit my grandmothers house, at one point or another we will eat pasta. Whether its with some cutlets and bread or fish and salad it always tastes amazing, especially if it was home made. My mom also makes homemade lasagna which is amazing because of the extra mozzarella cheese put in, along with other delicious ingredients.
ReplyDeleteYou and pasta should just get married already
DeleteI personally hate pasta. In my opinion, it tastes so not tasteful and gross.
DeleteFor this free blog, I will talk about my plans for the summer. I have very high expectations for this summer because so far, each summer has gotten more fun as I grew up. First of all, I am getting a season pass to Laronde because I love going to Laronde so much. I plan on going very often. Second, I am going to Kali's cottage will all of my friends for 5 days. Last year, we went for only a weekend and it has still been to this day, the best weekend of my life. This time, we are going with all of our friends for even longer. I cannot wait! I also plan to visit my family in toronto, hang out with my friends alot and a slight chance that I will be able to go to south carolina with one of my bestfriends for 2 whole weeks! I hope all these things workout this summer.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like such a fun summer! I am so excited for summer too because I just found out that my mom and dad are sending me back to England this summer for a whole month! I am so excited! I hope your summer is all you hope it to be!!
DeleteFor this free choice I will blog about something that I am not a huge fan of and that would definitely have to be people who step on the back of your feet in the hallways or just anywhere else in the world. I really hate when it happens and it's especially worst when you just buy a new pair of shoes and all these kids in the hallways are just stepping on the back of your feet. Honestly I would really like it if people would just stop stepping on my new shoes then I would be way more happy! :)
ReplyDeleteOmg i totally agree (it rhymes)
DeleteAmen!!!!
DeleteFor this blog I'm going to be talking about disney. I actually think I am obsessed with disney movies. They are so adorable and really funny. You might think I'm weird and immature for saying that but sit down and watch a disney movie that you haven't seen in a while. I'm telling you, they are pure genius. Recently I have been going through all the ones that I haven't seen in a long time with my sister and it is just so much fun. This march break I am going to Miami Florida for two days with my family and then my dad, sister and I are dropping off my mom to go on a cruise with my aunt. Then the three of us are going to stay at disney for a few days. I am so excited for it because disney is just such a happy place. I remember when I went in 2007 and it was so much fun, so I am excited for how it's going to be this time. I just love disney and I think no matter how old I get, I will never grow too old for disney.
ReplyDeleteFor this blog, i decided to talk about the Chris Brown incident. Vanessa and I were suppose to go to the Chris Brown, Trey Songz and Tyga concert on the 24th of February. We were so pumped for this concert and we've been waiting over three months to attend it. But it was 2 hours before the event, Vanessa calls me with the worst news ever....the concert was canceled. I didn't know whether to scream, cry, punch a wall or all of the above. I didn't believe her at first but after looking at his Twitter it was true. Since we were supposed to meet at Harveys to eat before going to the concert, we just decided to stay there and eat our feelings. In the end, even if we didn't go to that concert, it was one of the funnest nights ever.
ReplyDeleteThat is so terrible, I hope that you get refunded for your tickets. But at least you guys made the most of your situation.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteIt was so sad that the concert was cancelled, but hey, at least we still had a blast :)
DeleteColds are the absolute worst. I hate being sick no matter what, (though I doubt anyone really likes it)! From a raging fever, a cough, to just your average run of the mill cold I really hate them. Firstly, one of the many terrible things about colds is that they are so uncomfortable. I am constantly thinking about them, whether I have a scratchy throat or a runny nose they are not comfortable in the least. Having a cold drains you physically and emotionally so much that all I want to do is lie in bed all day. Lastly, whenever I have a cold I need to be taken care of. I hate my inability to do things myself and get very frustrated with all of the things that are now a challenge for me because of this temporary sickness. Whenever I get sick I find it really hard to concentrate and I always find myself having difficulty remembering what it was like not to be sick. I curse myself for not appreciating my well being when I am in good health.
ReplyDeleteFor my free blog I’m going to write about how unhappy I am at the moment. To give context to this blog I am lying down on my basement floor with my feet up in the air in front of my computer unable to move because my back hurts from growing pains and I have a ton of work to do for tomorrow, not to mention it’s colder than Jack Frost’s nipples outside. I’m not complaining I’m just stating the facts and today the facts are making my life very uncomfortable. Just to help me through this I’m going to ask some hypothetical questions that I want to get off my chest; why does it have to be so cold? Why so much homework? Why a project for science and English? And finally; why does my back have to hurt all the time? Thank you for reading my very uncomfortable blog and I hope you’ll excuse me as I go back to staring at the ceiling and working .
ReplyDeleteYou know what I have to say to kids who complain about homework? SUCK IT UP BUTTER CUP
DeleteFor this free blog, I'm going to talk about my love of Dick's! Dick's Sporting Goods is a pretty cool store . Every summer when I go to the states, I visit the store because it always has really good deals on sporting goods like hockey equipment as its the summer and the stores are getting rid of their inventory. Dick's also carries a wide range of other supplies like fishing gear compared to retailers like Canadian Tire, and my dad and I load up on fishing gear. Dick's Sporting Goods is also one of the very few stores that carry Bass Pro Shop Hats, these hats which are pretty cool, are not sold in Canada. So whenever I go to Dick's, I ask my friends if they want one and I'll go pick it up for them. I am looking forward to going to Dick's Sporting Goods this summer as I can't wait to see what new items they have!
ReplyDeleteHehe, you sound way too excited
Deletelol @jacobmeehan
DeleteFor this blog I will be talking about a concert being cancelled on Alisha, and I. We were supposed to be going to a Chris Brown concert the other night, but they cancelled it because the government wouldn’t let him pass the boarder. I called Alisha to let her know what I had heard on the radio, and we were both really upset. We were looking forward to it for a while and then BAM, it was cancelled 2 hours before the show. Alisha and I still had a fun night though. I can’t complain. We had a good laugh and spent most of the night eating our feelings.
ReplyDeleteWell I would just like to say that I'm so glad that this week is almost over because this has been the most stressful two weeks ever. It seems like every teacher decided to give us a project at the same time and the other teachers who didnt give us projects gave us test after test after test instead. It really frustrates me how at St. Thomas teachers never talk to each other. I mean I figured that if one teacher was giving a project then they would tell the other teachers so that way we would not get bombarded with 5 projects all due the same day! Although I managed to complete all of the projects I can't tell you how stressed I was. Anyways I am so happy that match break is here and that I can finally relax!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with everything you just said and I've been experiencing the same thing. I hope you get to release all that stress over march break!
DeleteFor this free, I thought why not write about my expander. I recently got a Palate expander. In case you didn’t know what it was, just read the name and it says it all. I got it on Monday February 23rd, so it’s been 3 days. The first day, when I got it, it was too bad, except I had so much trouble eating I didn’t even finish my burger from McDonald’s and my mouth was creating so much saliva! Day 2 was a bit worse, I got more used to having it in my mouth but I could barely eat with the pain. The third day which was today has been the worst yet. My mouth is in pain, I’m creating a lot of saliva because my brain thinks its candy and wants to swallow it and my pronunciation is honestly getting worse when it supposed to be getting better. I now have a lisp, so people laugh at me quite a bit now, but some people say it’s cute so that makes me feel a lot better about it. I have a lot more trouble speaking now, sometimes I just give up because the person/people I’m talking to will just keep saying “what?? What?” I can only eat foods that are really soft, and if I have to eat something harder, I can only use one side because the other has too much pain right now. Every day, I have to crank my expander so that it expands my palate a bit every day. I have to do this for 32 days then stop and keep my expander in still for 5 months. Hopefully I can get my braces by then so everything will be done around the same time and I will have my perfect teeth :)
ReplyDeleteI am going to do a blog about how much I get creeped out by that Elizabeth Rex poster in the classroom. I stare at it when I am bored and every time it gets creepier and creepier. The white pasty skin makes her look so old that she could had played checkers with jesus. Her red hair reminds me of all of the people she has probably killed violently. The little white things make her look scarily rich as if she can command anyone to die. That white thing around her neck is white. I always think she has to have at least 100 of them so that they are never red with blood. Her eyes stare into your soul as if she is trying to convince god to send you to hell. The worst part is, they put extra red all over her face to make her look even more creepy. Honestly, if that was in my room at night, I would go crazy and burn that poster.
ReplyDeleteFor this blog I've decided to write about an absolutely amazing TV show on Netflix called "Grey's Anatomy". I am 100% in love with this show, and I don't even know why. It's all about the life of a surgeon working at a high quality hospital. Before I started watching this show, anything that had to do with hospitals scared me and I could not even look at blood. Now after seeing the show, it has no affect on me. I am now actually really interested in medicine. Of course I would never follow through with this career because it would scare me half to death to kill somebody, but I do find it very interesting, and I now respect doctors more.
ReplyDeleteGrey's Anatomy is such a great show it is so cool. The same with me about the blood, now I am not as squeamish as before I watched this show.
DeleteFor this weeks free blog I wanted to explain why I’m so happy about getting my braces off. Although having braces wasn’t too bad, it definitely wasn’t great. One thing that bugged me so much was that every single time I would eat, I would have to clean out my teeth! It was so annoying! Another thing was that every time I got my braces tightened my whole mouth would hurt like crazy for the next 5 days! It was like a war was going on in my mouth! It sucked! Now that I have them off I finally have the freedom to eat what I want, without having my teeth hurt, and it doesn’t take forever for me to brush my teeth anymore. Also, now I don’t have to go to those regular check-up things where they make sure your braces are doing their job properly. I never liked those because every single time they would put those machines in my mouth and I wanted to gag. Anyways it probably doesn’t seem like much, but if you’ve ever had braces, or you have them now, you know what I’m talking about, and I hope you all get to take them off soon!
ReplyDeleteI hate bus drivers who see you and then drive away like they didn't. I understand that they must get so pissed off at kids like me for being loud and obnoxious, but they could could at least make an effort to look like they haven't seen me. Then at least I could forgive them. It has happened to me several times where I a running to a bus and the bus drivers look up at me, and then drive away. It sucks and I hate it.
ReplyDeleteI hate it when my bus driver does this like dude I know you saw me.
DeleteOMG garry the bus driver does this all the time
DeleteFor this free blog I decided to write about why Carter is the like the best person! He has this "I don't care" attitude which is so funny and amazing! Not many people have that kind of attitude and him having it is the best! Also, his sass is so unreal. Carter is the sassiest person I've ever met. Also, he's really honest which is good because if I want an honest opinion, I would ask him because he would tell me the real answer as it is without sugar coating it which is actually really good!

ReplyDeleteFor this free blog I am going to talk about why Madi S. is an amazing friend. She is an extremely confident person and she suprises me alot with some of the things she says. I wish I was outgoing as she is. She won't let anyone stand in her way and together we are unstoppable. Madi is so funny, almost everything that comes out of her mouth is hilarious, she is nothing like Lea. I am so glad to have her as a friend, she always puts a smile on my face. But I still don't love her as much as my har.
ReplyDeleteThis past Tuesday my dad surprised me with 2 Ed Sheeran floor tickets. I've been begging to go with my friend Alia ever since the tour date was announced. The tickets only came on sale officially today but my dad managed to get the tickets from a presale. When I found out I literally screamed and started jumping around the house like a freak. I was so excited for the concert June 2nd.
ReplyDeleteYou're so lucky I love Ed Sheeran too!!
DeleteLast Thursday night I went to The Fleetwood Mac Concert at the Bell Centre. I was super happy to be going to my old time favorite band live but I hadn't realized how old they actually were. I was the youngest kid there besides my 7 year old sister who was replacing my brother since he had a concussion. There was a moment right before the concert ended when went down a few floors and I got to see them really close. Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham were right in front of me and I suddenly didn't want to move anymore. My dad wanted to beat the traffic, but all I cared about was seeing the band I had loved for so long play the bridge of "Silver Springs", which was my favorite part of all their songs. On Monday, I couldn't have felt prouder wearing my FM concert shirt to school. A couple of my friends kept asking "Who are those old people?" But I was proud to tell them how amazing they were and still are.
ReplyDeleteIf you did not know, I have a twin in our class whose name is Katrina. We were born on October 25th, 1999. Although we are practically twins, she still tells everybody that she is older by a few hours. We met in soccer and one day she switched to my elementary school. I remember on the first day of school we were doing an activity that you walk up to someone and say your birthday. We both walked up to each other and simultaneously said the same date. Then, we both entered high school together. Not only are we twins, but our parents got married around the same time. We soon discovered that we have twin powers, such as twin telepathy. We both think the same things and then say it simultaneously, even if it is just one of those words you say when you react to something.
ReplyDeleteLike Jessica B, I decided to do it on a movie that I recently saw. The "D.U.F.F",(Designated, Ugly, Fat, Friend, according to the movie if you think you have one, you are the duff) the movie was amazing. It was romantic and funny. It wasn't one of those movies where you think its going to be funny but then the jokes are really lame. The jokes were actually pretty funny. This movie was also awesome because it wasn't one of those teens movies that you can't relate to because the main character is practically flawless and complaining that she didn't have a date to the prom. The main character, Bianca, was witty funny and very sarcastic she barely cared what other people thought about her and throughout the movie there was a message that they tried to send to encourage people to be themselves. Another message was that everyone feels like they are the "duff" sometimes and when you do to just let it go because labels don't matter.
ReplyDeleteFor this free blog I will be writing about the show Bones. It is a really amazing show that teaches you a surprising amount of information about the anatomy of a human. The show follows the life of a Forensic Anthropologist named Temperance Brennan who teams up with an FBI agent named Booth to solve crimes, mostly murders. The show also includes an interesting supporting cast that helps solve the murders with them. I really enjoy this show, it is interesting and I have learned a few names of bones in the human anatomy. I recommend that you watch this show, it is on Netflix.
ReplyDeleteI have mixed feelings about Friday's. I love not having school the next day, taking it easy and not having to do any homework but, I hate packing all of my things. You see, every week I switch houses one week, I'm with my dad and one week I'm with my mom. I do not have enough clothes for both houses so, every week I need to pack all of my things and bring them to the next house. This requires a lot of effort because, I need to fold all of the clothes that have not been folded and, put them in a little suitcase. Then, I have to bring the heavy suitcase into the cold to bring it into the trunk of the car. When I arrive at the other house I have to unpack all of my clothes and it just takes an enormous amount of effort on my part.
