  1. I am great at saving money for something I want, like Europe. I am currently saving as much as I can because I want to have a lot of spending money. I hope I can a job this summer to help my parents out with part of the cost. I have only saved money once before and it was to buy an iPad. I usually just spend my money on clothes, going to see movies and eating at restaurants. Saving money is extremely important for several reasons. Firstly, it is a good habit going forward in life. Secondly, having money in your bank account makes you feel good. Finally it is good to have money saved if you have an accident or need to pay for school.

  2. In general, I am a pretty good money saver. Whenever a birthday cheque comes around, it immediately goes right into my bank account for safekeeping. I always have a thought that it will really come in handy someday, and when I decide to buy something very important, the money will be there, all ready to spend. Recently, I decided to begin saving for a rainy day. I know that someday, future Isabel will want to buy something and thanks to present Isabel, I will be able to buy whatever that will be. Right now, there isn’t anything in particular that I want, but in my beliefs, it’s always good to save up. In the past, I saved up for about a year to have enough spending money for a trip, and it totally paid off as I came home with plenty of new clothes from the shopping I was able to do. So, for now I’ll keep saving up for the future in the hopes that one day, it will go to good use.

  3. I think it is very important to save money because in the future when we have an actual career we are going to have to know how to save money. Whether it's for a car of saving for food, we will have to learn sooner or later. I am personally not to that good at saving money because there is not necessarily anything that you gain in the end but if I save towards a goal I will get there in no time because I am determined.

    2. Personally I do not agree that saving money is a skill that can be improved. Its like quitting smoking, you just have to wake up one day and tell yourself you're going to stop. Then work towards your goal.

    3. I think saving money can be hard because we are all tempted to buy the next new thing but I think that if your determined to save your money you can!

  4. I am a very good saver. I have saved money for so long. I only spend money for presents or if I got a gift card. I get money for my birthday and I feel like I can't really spend it because i didn't really earn it so I save it. Although, when I babysit and get money from that, I feel more able to spend it because I worked hard for it. I have saved over 500$ and it feels really good just to have money saved. Most of that money is from birthdays but some of it is from babysitting. I think saving your money is better than spending it because if you save it and there is something you want in the future it is better to have saved money. Saving my money makes me feel excited to buy something big in the future. If you are a spender you are probably going to end up with a bunch of nice things but no more money to get essentials and if you are a saver you might have less things but more money to treat yourself!

    1. I agree I think that it is easier to convince yourself to spend money if you feel like you have earned it, and it is really nice to have the means to splurge once in a while.

  5. I have always loved shopping but hated spending money. I know, it’s hard to do both at once, but I honestly hate that feeling of giving away hard earned money. I am fine with gift cards but there is something about seeing the money being passed over and leaving your hands that never feels good with me. So to answer the question, yes I am very good at saving money. The most money that I have spent on one thing in my entire life is 500$. It took me almost a full year of birthday, Christmas and babysitting to replenish the 500$ that I owed my mom for summer camp. Last summer was the first time that I have ever gone for a month and its not exactly cheep, so my grandmother payed for half and my parents and I agreed to split the rest. I think that I very important to save money. It shows that you have good character and that you are willing to sacrifice things that you want for the future. There has to be a filter for you knowing when its right to splurge or save.

  6. I am someone who loves going shopping and spending money. When I was younger I had a really hard time saving money and I would spend it on the first thing I would see. That left me broke, I felt regret and most of the time I wouldn't even use the thing I bought. But recently I've started to save my money a lot more. I have a lot of money in my bank account and I only spend it when I am 100% sure that I will actually use the the thing I want to buy. I think it's important to save money because if you are in a bad situation and you have no money then things can go wrong. But if you are smart with how you spend your money then you don't have to worry about something going wrong and being stuck.

  7. I can honestly say that I suck at saving money because I like to shop a lot. I almost have no self-control when it comes to it. But nowadays, I'm getting better at saving my money especially since I am spending my own money while in Europe next year. So when I get a job in the summer, I need to make sure to save instead of spend. Saving money is really important because then you can buy more important stuff when you're older like a house and a car. So overall, saving my money can really help my future and it is definitely important to do so.

  8. When I was younger I have to admit that I had trouble saving my money. Whenever I got some money I would go buy something just because I knew I could, which wasn't the best choice. Now that I'm older I've realized how expensive things cost and how important it is to save up. So I've started to pay more attention to my money and not let myself get carried away with it. Like most people have already mentioned, I am saving up for Europe too, so that has made me realize that money really doesn't grow on trees, and you have to work for it. So I hope that by getting a job this summer, it will help a bit and I hope that I continue to be careful with it because I certainly do not want to go back to the way I used to be with money!

  9. I have been saving money for a while now. Since I don't have a job it is taking a long time. I think that it is important to learn how to save money because otherwise you could end up in trouble. I like saving money, but that doesn't mean that I am shy about using it. I love having money because it means that if I am walking around and I see something I want I can buy it without asking my parents or anything.

  10. Saving money is one of my many challenges. It is a constant problem mostly because of my "lack of funds". You see I don't have an income, and my parents sure don't love to give me money, so my wallet always seems to be dry. When I was little I loved to save money. I would count it everyday, and make sure that I had more than my older sister. It was my means of entertainment at the young age of 6. But now the tables have turned. My new favorite activity is spending that money, on what I like to call shopping. I know it's very typical that girls go shopping as much as they do, and I can honestly say that I am one of those people. It's a curse really, because whenever I do go shopping I can either spend my tiny stash of money on one really nice thing, or a few small things.

  11. I'm becoming a little better at saving money. When I was younger, I was never really good at saving it, I'd just spend it on useless things that I would only use once, until I realized, that saving money is a really important thing to do, especially for the future. At my age, some kids don't think about the future. They think about what they want to buy and stuff like that, but they don't think about the fact that they will actually have to pay for those things with their own money. They also have to realize that they shouldn't be spending it on useless things unless they bought the essentials first such as food. Lets say when they're older, they can't get a job. The money that they saved up from when they were younger will be useful in that time because it will be able to support them. Money doesn't just fall from the sky. You have to work hard and earn it, especially when you're older.

  12. In my eyes I think that I am getting a little bit better at saving money. The reason why I say a bit better is because sometimes I'm too helpful and buy my friends and I some extra snacks and stuff all the time, which is how a lot of my money was spent. Now a days I'm a lot better at not caving in and saying no. Also, since now I am saving up money I now know that I have a wider selection of things that I can buy if needed or if I do save up enough side money for, if that's what I truly want. That's why I say I'm a little better at saving money.

  13. I think I'm pretty good at saving money if I have something in mind. I normally have a goal. The goal that I am trying to achieve now is saving money so I can pay part of my Europe trip. I separate my money into two categories, saving where I put 80% of my money earned and spending where I put 20%...the rest. I get into situations where I need to spend often. Most of the time, my mom or dad will buy something for me. So my spending money is mostly for a treat at the mall or going to the movies with my friends.

  14. I am honestly terrible at saving money because I end up playing chicken with my mind. Meaning I tell myself I will not by it but then I think I should buy it and then it becomes a game of russian roulette with myself. Although, I never want anything therefore I am unitentionally amazing at saving money. I personally do not feel a need to buy materialistic possessions like other teenagers. I am kinda the person who just never spends money because I don't want the things I see at a store. But when I finally see something I want, I will have sufficient funds to buy it because I rarely buy anything. I feel it is important to save money because most items that people buy are materialistic things. But if you save your money, then you can get something better, like going on the europe trip for example. Things like that are the things you're going to remember when your older, not the ice cream you buy at Fairview.

  15. I am probably the worst person at saving money. I don’t really know why but as soon as I get money I just feel the need to spend it right away. It’s really bad but I have a hard time keeping the money. If I really want something and I have to pay for it myself then I will try my best to save up the money to buy whatever that thing is. I think it’s important to save money for your future but being a teenager it’s not that important to save because we don’t have to pay taxes or anything so if you’re saving your money it’s probably to buy something or if you’re smart it’s for your future. :’)

  16. Funny how we are talking about money while i just bought stuff online like 5 minutes ago wasting my money. I'm not one to have a lot of money on me so when i do i cherish it. I can keep my money for so long but for the essential , bus pass or food from time to time its no question it will disappear. Its no question because it keeps happening to me, my grandma knows my problems and for every occasion puts money in a bank account so i could only open the account when I'm eighteen and have a lot of money by then. so i guess ill get a job so i will keep most in my bank account and do the same as my grandma until i can by a car or something.

  17. For a long time now I've been saving up money given to me by relatives, birthday money and money I didn't spend on a trip all fitted in a small pink wallet. I've loved the idea of independence since I was younger and started saving up around the age of 10. I made a deal to myself that I would spend no more than 204 a year. This continued for a while, and I still have quite a stash in my pink wallet, but it's been harder for me to save now that I am actually making money. At the beginning of the school year I started reffing courses, and became a ref a couple months later receiving good pay. Later on I added a job that included training young kids to skate. It paid minimum wage but it was a class I had participated in when I was a toddler so I was very pleased when I got offered the job. All goes to say that I am now working two jobs and have a bank account, making the pink wallet look like nothing. It's getting tougher for me not to spend the money in that wallet when I know I have backup. However, I have made a plan never to take out any money from my bank account until I am 17 and have something more useful or important like schooling to put my savings towards.

  18. I'm actually really good at saving money. If there's something that I really want then I will save up for it. But also, if there's not anything in particular that I'm saving up for, I still save it in case theres something i want in the future. When i do spend my money, its usually on small things or things i really need, and occasionally i buy something dumb and regret it in the future but I'm pretty good at saving money.

  19. I would say that I am good at saving money. My brothers tell me that when they were my age they would always spend their allowance right away but I like to save most of it. I usually save up for something big that I want. For example, I managed to put all the money I was getting recently aside and saved enough to buy an iPhone. A lot of my money was put into the bank when I was younger and I can only take it out when I am an adult. I think that it is important to save money so that you are prepared for the future. By having money saved up, when I move out and have a job of my own I will have some money to start off with.

  20. I would say that I am very good at saving money! I love to save money because I like to know that I have money in case I want to buy something I really want or do something fun with friends. I like to use my money to buy something that I've wanted for a while because I find that once I buy something with my money a few months later I don't use that thing anymore and I regret wasting all my money on it! I tried to think of something that I will have for a long time to use my money to buy! I think it's important to save money because we might think that what we're using our money on at this age is really important to us but in a few years when we have to buy a car or go to school we will have wished that we didn't use all of our money on that T-shirt we really wanted or that wallet that we needed but instead saved it for when we really needed it!
