My favourite retail chain FUTURE SHOP closed down this weekend. I was very upset. Not only did many people lose their jobs, but in this changing economy, a major retailer closed down.
What is your favourite retail store? Why is it your favourite?
How would you feel if one day it shut down? Explain.
My favorite retail store is now and forever will be Chapters. I love reading and Chapters has any book that I could ever want. The employees are always friendly, approachable and ready to recommend their favorite book when inquired. The atmosphere is quiet without being overly awkward (like a library). Whenever I walk in and see all of the fabulous colors and intricate book jackets, it makes me so excited. Not to mention that even if you are not a huge book lover Chapters has a Starbucks inside so you can either get a drink or cozy up on a comfy chair with your new book. Chapters is also partnered with Indigo, so there are various cards, knickknacks, accessories and stationary among the books. Chapters also has a multitude of sections and you will almost always find the book you are looking for no matter how unpopular or unknown. I love receiving Chapters gift cards for my birthday because well, books aren’t cheep so I take every opportunity I can to go there. And when I do I usually end up coming out with more than one book!
ReplyDeleteI love Chapters too! Who doesn't love the smell of a new book?
DeleteMy favorite retail stores by far would be either sport experts or footlocker. I am obsessed with going to those stores and just spending the entire day there because of all their amazing products that they hold. Sports experts is like my candy land because it not only has shoes there but also bikes, longboards, snowboards, soccer balls and tons more! I just feeling like buying everything In there. Footlocker is more of a store that specializes in shoes. Since they only have that one product, they specialize in it very well. There entire store is basically walls and walls of shoes and the brands that they have there are endless! I would honestly be destroyed if either of these stores were put to an end so I hope business keeps going well for them and ill see them soon.
ReplyDeleteSports experts is a great retail store. I have always wanted to work there just so I could get one of those jerseys that the employees wear!
Deletesports experts is one of my favorite retail stores to!!!!!
DeleteSports experts is awesome
DeleteMy favorite retail store would have to be the Pharmaprix. I love the huge variety that they have there, you could buy anything from nail polish to chocolate to groceries. I really like that anything you could ever want is right there at your finger tips! I also love to use coupons, getting a discount, who doesn’t love that? Pharmaprix is one of the only places that I know that has a coupon for pretty much everything! If Pharmaprix ever closed, I don’t know what I would do! I would miss the clean smell and bright aisles of the place. In addition, I would miss using all my coupons, they would all go to waste! Overall, I really love Pharmaprix, but there are much worst things in life then a pharmacy closing. On the bright side, if it ever closed, I would save a lot of money!
ReplyDeleteI love Pharmaprix! It really does have everything and I totally would hate having my coupons going to waste!
DeleteMy absolute favourite retail store would have to be Bath & Body Works. Who can resist the magical scents of flowers, vanilla and fruit as you’re shopping? The aromas entice you, causing you to have to stop in, even just to browse. The burst of colours in the store also bring a smile to my face every time. Rows of soaps, candles, sanitizers and perfumes line the walls of the store and fill my desk drawer with both scents and happiness. Plus, this store has the best seasonal scents. If this store were to close, how else would I smell like pumpkin in the fall, candy canes in the winter, flowers in the spring and fruits in the summer? Also, this store is truly a big part of the shopping experience. Without that happy, colourful store, shopping would just lose some of its appeal to me, so whenever I stop by Bath & Body Works, I savour every moment in the sad case that it were to close.
ReplyDeleteI love bath and body works too, especially their candles!
DeleteI have way too many favorite retail stores but I think my absolute favorite is probably LUSH. Everytime I walk in the store, all the smells of the different products are in the air. They all individually smell amazing and I like to smell every single thing in the store. Plus each product is a different shape, size and color. My favorite things to buy there are bath bombs and bubble bars. Hopefully this retail store never closes because it is one of my all time favorites.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I absolutely adore Lush. I agree with you when you mentioned all the shapes and sizes, I find it so cute that they make soaps with such detail and creativity.
DeleteMy favourite retail store is definitly HMV. Lets just start off with that music is my absolutely favourite thing in the world. I couldn't go without it. Most people just download songs of iTunes and say they love music, but that isn't how I see it. I go through songs, CD'S, records and playlists everyday when I have the time, and where are these from, HMV. Even if it is a small store, it has rows and rows of cds from some of the best artists alive, and all of my favourites. I listen to their R&B, house, rap, contemporary and country. Ever since I had first gone to the store, I swear to god that I have discovered at least 40 amazing artists that I now listen to all the time. The store also has tons of movies, video games and comic books that I also buy. I hate to admit, I think I have spent at least half of my life savings so far on this incredible store.
ReplyDeleteI love HMV too. They have every movie and every album! That store is awesome!!
DeleteMy favourite retail store is probably either american apparel or little burgundy. I love shopping for clothes and shoes and every time I walk by those stores something draws me in. I love the hipster old style from american apparel and all the different types of shoes from little burgundy. All my shoes are from little burgundy because I just love everything that they sell there. If one day, one of those stores closed I would probably be really sad. Especially for american apparel. That store is so unique and I've never seen any other store with the same style. One the other hand I would be less sad about little burgundy because the shoes there are also sold at other stores.
ReplyDeleteI love little burgundy!!! I can't afford stuff from either of the stores your talking about because both of them have way overpriced clothing, but I still love the style they both have (especially the shoes).
DeleteMy favorite retail store would be bath&bodyworks. I have some sort of an addiction to their scented candles, scented hand cream, and scented hand sanitizers. There are so many different scents that I get caught up in the moment and decide that I have to buy the product before they stop selling that scent. Sometimes, if I know bath&bodyworks didn't have any more of a certain scent in stock, I'd switch hand sanitizers before the bottle was empty that way I'd still have the scent. Truthfully, If bath&bodyworks shut down I'd not only be completely surprised, but totally distraught. There is no store quite like it. Of course there are other stores that sell similar scented products like lush and the body shop. But none of those have the same feel when you walk in and are overwhelmed with so many different options. Also, if it shut down, I would have no idea what to ask people for when it came to Christmas or my birthday! Every year I ask for the same thing: Scented Candles from bath&bodyworks. This year I managed to get 11 3-wick candles from relatives and friends! It worked out perfectly because none of them managed to get me the same one! I light one nearly everyday so that the scent fills my room and helps me concentrate while I do homework. Without bath&bodyworks, this relaxing sensation I get from my daily routine wouldn't be applied and life would be pretty different.
ReplyDeleteI'm obsessed with the scented candles and the perfumes!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Bath&BodyWorks so much. The people who work there are so friendly and nice you feel so warm and happy when you go in that store!!!!
DeleteMy favorite retail store is Walmart. It is my favorite because you can buy so many different things, my favorite thing to buy there is candy, they have such a large variety of different candies that it is almost impossible to choose one candy t buy, the best part about Walmart, is that everything is so cheap, for example I can buy a Gatorade, a chip bag and some candy for just under ten dollars. If one day it just suddenly closed down it would be terrible because, so many people would lose their jobs and also because I would have to spend so much more money for food and candy.
ReplyDeleteI kinda disagree about the prices argument because Walmart mostly makes deals on packets of things. But for individual prices it is just a couple of cents less than a depanneur . But It is definitely true they have lots of good stuff there!
DeleteMy favorite retail store is the Boathouse. I enjoy this store because I like to see all of the small gadgets that they have there. They have things like underwater radars so that you can see what is happening under there. Obviously that is WAY over my budget but it is still awesome to see those things. I also like going there because I get to see how the pros are rigging their boats these days. Rigging a boat is very complicated and I like going to see how they are rigging it these days because it changes ever year with the new discoveries they make. It also always smells like new cars because for some reason the smell of new boats vs the smell of new cars is very similar. If this place closed then nothing would really happen since you could just go the next smaller boat store. But it would obviously be less fun and a lot less useful.
ReplyDeleteI figured that you would choose a retail store that had to do with boats lol, But that does sound pretty cool!
DeleteMy favorite retailer store is probably the Dollar Store. I'm not really sure if that counts as one but I love it so much. It is just so much fun to go up and down the aisles and see what amazing things they have for 1$!!! Even thought most of their stuff is more than 1$ it's still pretty cheap. I love the dollar store because as a kid when it was my birthday I would get to go and choose out candy and balloons that I wanted. Not all Dollar Store's do this but most of them have so many colorful balloons to choose from and the coolest machine to blow them up. Going to the Dollar Store makes me feel like a kid again and I would be devastated if it closed. So many people use the Dollar Store for quick easy purchases and that would be lost if they close. There are no stores like the Dollar Store!!!!! :)

I have 2 favourite retail stores and I can't pick just one so I'm gonna talk about both of them. The first one is IKEA. One of the reasons why I love it so much is because they serve some of the best meatballs ever!! They are so good! Plus, now they have this poutine with the meatballs in it which is also really good! Another reason why I love Ikea is because I like decorating. I'm constantly re-arranging my room and decorating it, so whenever I get a chance to go to Ikea, I take it, because it gives me ideas. My second favourite retail store is Costco. When I was little we even had a song to go with the store. I like Costco because there are ladies that give you free food and it's just fun to walk around and see what they're selling. Especially the middle section. That's the part where all the cool stuff is, and I always go there first.
ReplyDeleteCostco is the best store everr! you can get absolutely everything there! and I totally agree with IKEA those meatballs!!!
DeleteI honestly don't have a favorite retail store. I mean picking just one store is like asking me to pick my favorite family member. It's just too big of a decision. So Instead I'm going to pick a series of clothing stores that resemble. For starters Brandy Melville and Urban Outfitters. Those are my stores on special occasions, I only go there once in a while but the clothes from there are at the top of my picking pile. Then I'll move onto the "when I need something" category. I'll go there more often but I would only really buy the essentials. Then after those we have the "Well of course I had to go there" which are pretty much the miscellaneous of my shopping which contain stores like HMV, Davids tea, Apple, Saphora ... which I find myself going into even when there is no purpose, just too look around. So I don't know what I would do without all of these stores because they all shape my shopping experience.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it's hard to pick just one store. Brandy and urban outfitters have really nice things but they're teally expensive! So I agree that they're for special occasions:)

ReplyDeleteMy favourite retail store would probably have to be Chapters. I adore reading and that store is like my own little piece of heaven. Whenever I walk in I head straight for the books that I love. I'm always on the look for new books to read but I hardly ever buy books because I also love the library. If Chapters ever closed I would be really sad. I hate the thought that books are being taken over by kindles and kobos. I don't have a problem with them, it's just reading off them isn't the same as having a real book in your hands.
ReplyDeleteI love Chapters! I completely agree with the kobos and kindles, I prefer to read an actual book too.
DeleteI can’t just choose one retail store to call my favourite. I have quite a few that I love, such as, Abercrombie, Hot Topic, Hollister, and the strangest one of all, the Pharmaprix. Those are just a few of my many favourite retail stores. To me, all these stores have a very different style that I love. They aren’t really your typical stores, but to me, they’re very unique and send out a fun loving vibe. Hot Topic is where I get most of my bracelets, It’s a very punk/goth store but I still love it. Hollister and Abercrombie may seem the same in some ways, but to me, are very different. They both have different styles of clothing. At the Pharmaprix, I can find almost anything I need (except for clothing). If those stores were to close down, I would be so upset. I wouldn’t know where to shop anymore. I find most of my favourite clothes from from those stores and I would just be so upset to hear that it would be closing down. I wouldn’t know where else to find that style of clothing. If the Pharmaprix were to close down, I would be devastated because they have absolutely everything I need!
ReplyDeleteMy abosolute favourite store in the world is American apparel. I honestly don't know what I would do if it closed down because its my favourite place to shop. It's really expensive but it's amazing quality and all the clothes are made in LA in a factory where everyone gets paid equally. If I found out it was closing, I would save up my money for months and months and buy a bunch of clothes at their closing sale. I would probably start shopping even more at thrift store to recreate the looks that American apparel had although nothing would be as beautiful as the clothes in that store i would try and find clothes close to them.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite retail store is Brandy Melville. There are two near me and they are downtown and in Laval. Living in the West Island, I rarely get to visit this store but when I do I love it. The thing about this store is that it is supposedly 'one size fits all' which it is not because everybody has a different size. Surprisingly, a lot of their clothes fit me which is one of the reasons why I love this store because often at other stores like Forever 21 I can't find clothes that fit me well. The only downside is that some of the clothes re pricey, but I understand because they are great quality. If Brandy Melville shut down, would be really sad because it is my favourite store to shop at for tops.
ReplyDeletei find brandy has such nice clothes but i dont go there a lot:/
DeleteI really like that mall. I find it has 2 of the best places to be, Future Shop and Chapters. I love walking into Future shop because I am into video games, music, and movies. So the whole store is a bit of a paradise. I also buy my headphones, and check out new phones when they come out. However I guess I can't any more since it closed down. Chapters is awesome, I read a lot so I end up going to chapters a lot. I just love the atmosphere there, walking around surrounded by books and other people browsing. I think that the staff there are also awesome just because there so friendly and know what they are talking about.
ReplyDeleteI have so many favourite retail stores so I can't really pick one. It all depends on what I need or what I'm looking for. But one store that I love is LUSH. It's a store where they have like things for baths, showers, your body. etc. I only found out about it this year by my friends and I fell in love with it. I love their bath bombs because they're so fun and so pretty! Also, they're body wash is amazing and everything just smells amazing there. If that store closed, I would be so sad because they have such amazing things that not many stores sell so I wouldn't really know where to go to buy those kind of things.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite store is probably H&M. I live that store because they have all the basics like black leggings and white tank tops but they alsi have random things like unicorn onesies and Eminem tees. It would be absolutely ridiculous for this chain store to shut down because not only is it all over north America but it's also everywhere in Europe. I would be rather disappointed if it closed down because I would have to find a new store to buy my basic closet nessecities.
